and vinyl was out for 40 years when CD's came out. 2 generations passed and it was a mass improvement.

with SACD and DVD-A one generation passed and most people were still trying to re-buy their collections on CD for the first time, and it took extra equipment and extra money to get them.

and the coup d'etat: i couldn't play them on my CD player, i had to buy another one of those too, along with 3 speakers and and an amp.

again i say, too soon and too expensive.

you have to look in the mirror and ask yourself:

if you were a teenage today, would you be spending your money on CD's?

i can can't imagine anyone honestly answering yes.

1 - they do not care at all, i repeat AT ALL, about sound quality, so ear buds are fine for them, why do they need a physical product like a CD?

2 - their smart phones have spotify, pandora and god knows what other websites that have FREE music, WHENEVER THEY WANT IT, i repeat again, WHENEVER THEY WANT IT, without even having to take the 10 seconds to download it.

2 - they have ZERO artist loyalty.

4 - they could care less about who play what instrument on any album, so liner notes are totally unnecessary.

5 - and the coup-d-etat: taking all of the above into consideration - if they really want an album....they steal it from the internet without it costing them 1¢

......and since we think he sounds just like steve perry you should pay what it would cost if steve perry were here. :doh:
