You don’t see what sets Tull apart from dozens of other bands.? How about a string of great albums with Great original songs like no other band. Great lyrics. Excellent musical chops. And On stage, great presentation and exceptional stage presence. Paul Revere and the Raiders . In the sixties they were right up there with the Beatles,Stones and The Monkees and most of their music still sounds good today. Besides the Stray Cats and George Thorogood....who are some of the actual rock and roll snubs still waiting?

I respect you have an opinion but when use words like tripe for billy joel and cat stevens you lose my respect. so they may not be your cup of tea but you insulting their fans too. you are the one that brings up popularity and you say mc5 belongs and the man that continues to sell out madison square garden year after year doesnt? The Doobies probably will get a nomination eventually... But I think they are way back in the que, behind Rundgren, Warren Zevon, and Nilsson. Think Carly Simon will be more likely nominated before Doobies. I anticipate Zevon on the ballot and inducted in 2019. Radiohead, and LL Cool j also inducted 2019. That leaves two openings for 80s acts, Janet Jackson, etc. Al Kooper. He's been active in all of the eras of Rock and Roll as a performer, composer, producer, A & R man and wrote a great, funny book about the music biz. Another artist who had lots of airplay, a handful of hits and still gets airplay today. Gerry Rafferty. Two hits with his second band Stealers Wheel and on his own scored eight top 40 hits. I doubt he will ever get in but he should be considered.

Could The Carpenters Conceivably Be Inducted Into The RRHoF?If Cher could conceivably be in the RRHoF, then I want the Carpenters in the RRHoF too!! * Karen had one of the most exquisite voices in the history of recorded music * Richard is an extraordinary musician, arranger, composer, and producer * Karen was an excellent drummer (many people forget this!) * They created a unique and easily recognizable sound * They mastered the art of overdubbing vocals * They did their own thing in the face of what their contemporaries were doing and were very successful worldwide better than joan [ baez not jett] and all the crappers they are puttin in Nah. Better than Joan Jett, too (by piles of miles.) Yeah I'd put them in. If the Mama's & The Papa's or the Turtles or any assortment of L. A studio pop entities are eligible and suitable for induction then it doesn't matter if they don't sound as gritty as One &Tina. Could Styx go in? Are they disqualified for Babe, Lady or Lights? Then open the door wide for Richard's Fender Rhodes! Also Goodbye to Love not only for the guitar but for Karen's voice being used to create MASSIVE power chords. And remember it was Jim Gordon doing a lot of drumming on the big hits so let's not throw the baby out with the Layla or the Nilsson! Time for an L.A. HOF induction... And we shouldn't get too hung up on Rock and Roll to mean you have to be Eddie Cochran or look like you knew him to be admitted. If Doo Wop and Neal Sedaka and "My Prayer" sound like rock and roll then those adapting 40s pop and jazz to rock inflected pop make up a LOT of this music and always have. N.W.A. is in the hall of fame so why not The Carpenters? The whole thing is meaningless anyway. The Carpenters stand proudly with other great MOR acts of the era, including Sinatra, Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Herb Alpert and TJB, Burt Bacharach, the Fifth Dimension, Dawn, Tom Jones, Andy Williams, Jack Jones and so many more. If you were around in the late 60’s and early 70’s, they were as much part of the landscape as the Allmans. It was a special time. Let’s get Warren Zevon in first and then we’ll talk about The Carpenters. However, it might be appropriate add an "Influences" Section as part of the RARHOF (like the current "Early Influences" Section) as a non-Rock 'n' Roll act that had a significant influence on Rock 'n' Roll acts. As an example, the Carpenters have been credited as the group that created the power ballad (with the song "Goodbye To Love"). Why not ? They’re better than Bon Jovi and Joan Jett and everybody gets in unless it’s country, classical, prog, folk, alternative, most punk, electronic and Sinatra. All the stuff that is rock or influenced rock. It’s a total farce Rock, Rock n Roll and Punk seem to be meaingless terms any more - apparently rap acts like Kayne West are rock stars. Go figure. I don't see the point in these award ceremonies, but it ridiculous how anything can seemingly be deemed rock any more. The criteria for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is pretty darn simple: A) are you friends with Jann Wenner, or (B) does Jann Wenner want to hang out with you backstage at the shindig. Answer yes to (A) or (B), and you're in. If you answered yes to (A) you are a friend of Jann Wenner, then you can also talk him into putting somebody else in, that you really like, even if he isn't friends with that person or doesn't want to hang out with them backstage. It's really a pretty simple formula. It's a cult of stardom, built around Jann's tastes, his contacts, his friendships, his personal social circle, and his business. they are more deserving than 90% of the members inducted...mega stars and they played a rock song or 2... Considering some of the acts who have already been inducted, I'd say, "why is there any doubt?" I'd rather have Carpenters than all those rappers It seems like they needed validation from Sonic Youth to be respected. Oh how I hate hipsters, I really do Well, Rory Gallagher and Warren Zevon aren't in so anythings possible.

So, how did The Sex Pistols get in? They hate Jann, and I think he hates them. It's not like Pinecone can even lean back and say, "But they have a catalog that's undeniable." They've got one album. I get a headache trying to figure out Shites.
