I ran across this little exchange from last night. It has probably been discussed but does anyone know what happened? Did he just have enough of the SHiTes bull?

Just like any other professional active in the recording industry, Irwin probably caught a whiff of the overwhelming stench and quit in disgust.
I do specifically recall an exchange with Lukpac, in which he (Lukpac) armed with charts and graphs, was alleging Sundazed's Captain Beefheart mono Safe as Milk CeeDee was cobbled together, edited, spliced and folded down from stereo. Whether this was the root cause I don't know or care.

In general, I like the label, but there’s certainly been some releases where I think the complainers may be on to something.

Despite plenty of attention and research devoted to the band, there is zero indication that there was ever a mono mix, fold or otherwise, before the Sundazed set. And I don't know if it's like that on their set, but on CD one track, Candy Says, briefly turns back into stereo.
The amount of problems and valid criticisms of Sundazed is telling. This time around, I'm on the side of the complainers.

Even in their glory days way back when, Sundazed did a lot of annoying shit (unnecessary remixes, deleted tracks). When it comes to reissues, Bill Inglot is way more trustworthy. Irwin seems a bit slippery and Hoffmanesque.

Yep. There was also a mono mix they put on a 7” for Record Store Day that seemed to be a new fold too. Also, it’s hyper trivial but I alway thought it odd they couldn’t use the proper MGM logos on stuff when the Roy Orbison reissues used it with a blurb about not being the Vegas hotel.

Looks like the made a failed attempt at rebuilding the US mono Mr. Fantasy album by using the single mix of Giving To You. Stuff like that just shows a lack of care and consideration. If you can't even be trusted to get the right mixes, can you be trusted to be using the best sources? Are they hiring? STeVE would be a good fit.

The original US version did use the single version of Giving To You, as well as the short version of Paper Sun.
Blame United Artists. Also, fuck SHF for spreading misinformation.

Years ago I was talking to a guy who was in a local band that had a bit of national notoriety in the '60s. Their collected recordings were reissued on Sundazed, and none of the members got a nickel from it -- despite a royalty rate clearly being spelled out in their contract. His theory was that Sundazed reissues a lot of music by groups whose members, if they're alive, are so out of touch with each other and so far removed from the record business that they don't have either the means or the desire to pursue a legal remedy if they get ripped off.

They certainly managed to make this one sound like shit, especially considering that the compilation There's Gonna Be a Storm sounds pretty good.

Fair enough. I just have the Traffic Remasters CDs, which are the UK mono with bonus tracks and the US stereo with bonus tracks. (plus the full length stereo Paper Sun from some compilation, a mono rip of the Traffic songs from the Mulberry Bush soundtrack, and a digital version of the stereo soundtrack version of Utterly Simple.)

Coincidentally, a tiny bit of editing creates yet another truism:
Bob IrwEzrin Hates Hoofyville

Remembering that smackdown always brings a smile to my face. This one was good, but I liked how STeVE had troweled on the bullshit with his OP, started to get fellated by the SHites, then see it all come crashing down when Ezrin showed up. (Hoofy’s subsequent “homina, homina, homina” response to the gut-punch was just icing on the cake.)
