I’d love to see a photo of him (and Morrow) I imagine two rotund, middle aged men, in food stained vests, living in houses where the cleanliness is non existent, and the bedroom floor is littered with screwed up Kleenex Morrow has a cellar with a shrine to Olive and his mother’s mummified corpse in the corner. Rare photo of Bobby and Alex hanging out.

The Best Velvet Underground Album ? Discussion in 'Music Corner' started by alexpop, Yesterday at 6:12 PM.
Alexpop (sorry for the formatting, it's Alexpop's) The Velvet Underground Best ? Loaded ( with hits !!!!)
Exitmusic - You posted the same thread just over a year ago which is still open.
edit - get a load of the Human Riff 999's contribution, if you dare :
I remember Christmas 1974 I was a sophomore in HS; it came out September 1974. I had a list of lps I wanted and one Saturday, maybe after Thanksgiving or early December my parents and us 3 kids went to Roanoke VA to a newer mall. I went one way, my sister went another and my young brother was with my mom. I remember seeing my Dad in a record store vinyl under arm, in a record store that was packed to the gills, mainly with young people. Records, T shirts, posters cassettes and 8 tracks, counters with incense burners, incense etc. It was funny, seeing a highly respected decorated FBI agent standing in line with Live 69, Grievous Angel Gram Parsons, John Dawson Winter III, Walls and Bridges Lennon, Odds and Sods The Who, Hall of The Mountain Grill Hawkwind, Close Up The Honky Tonks Burritos, Irish Tour, The Hoople Mott, Twin Peaks Mountain, and Rock and Roll Animal Lou!....like 11 records.....probably averaging $5 to $6 each....so $66 to $70 dollars. Its Only rock and Roll, Before The Flood and Secret Treaties had come out in 74, but I HAD to have them before Christmas and I had a good deal of money from saving my earnings form 5 yards I had been mowing since 72 and a little job in the summer!
Seeing Dad in line like that was odd, as a lot of people I knew and grew up with had parents would would never just let their child listen to this music without finding out more info on who and what and "how dangerous" it was to the mind!!! My parents were not that way; they did not censor or restrict my music ever. They were smart educated people ( both Masters degrees William & Mary College) who would rather me "Be who I am and let me kick out the jams" and develop into who I was in a positive learning environment than be restricted in everything I did. There were rules but they were fair and I raised mine the same way. They may ask me to turn it down sometimes when I was in my room, and rather come to the 2nd floor of our colonial style house, my pop would knock on the wall. Pretty cool parents. They never said you cannot hear that, you cannot put posters up, and probably a year later, my junior year, my Dad sat me down one evening in the basement. We had the talk; "look I know you guys are smoking marijuana; I know ok? Let me say this; I am not trying to make a big deal out of something or lecture you about life. If you are going to do that, it s probably smarter to do it at home than be out riding around; I'm not saying just do it here and talk about it, I'm just saying be smart in what you do ok?"
So many of my friends thought Dad must be tough to live with being FBI....he never was. I had things I needed to do around the house like the trash, and summer we mowed a big yard every Saturday, but together. We'd break at lunch, and he was cool with me having a beer. My Dad was FBI, and my Mom was Social Services Protective Custody, so they made good money, and the house was fairly new, with a cost of roughly $45 to 50k with $10 grand down so they were doing well; not rich at all. They gave me a wonderful life, but I had expectations in school, at home, in public, and to adults. What a great life they gave me; they taught me do well in school and do the best I could in all subjects, and ask for help if needed. I mowed 5 yards from the time I was 12 til I moved at 29 and had a 30+ hour a week job June to Sept under table at $4 an hour or so; I saved and always had $ for my records, weed, gas and ultimately had enough to buy a car a VW in 76 new!!!!
They were not liberals at all; they were conservative people who were very focused and guided me down the right paths in life with some wiggle room!
Thats my Live 1969 Story; still have that Mercury Records 2 lp set, almost 50 years later!!!!!

People often come around my house to chill, smoke, trip or whatever and they ask me to put on a Velvet Underground album.
When the first notes of "Who Loves the Sun" hit the air, I hear "Not LOADED!!"
But I say yeah, motherfucker. "Loaded....WITH HITS!!"

I actually removed Alexpop from ignoreland to read this. It is totally incomprehensible.
