I took some old cassettes of the fake radio shows my friends and I used to put on and cleaned them up with Izotope RX. They sound 1000 times better now. Between NR, EQ, some limiting, they are actually listenable now.
So fuck your analog.

So let me get this straight (and please correct me if I am wrong) but there are countless posts and threads dedicated to recording records to digital. Someone like antGr spends countless hours moaning and groaning about how great it is and so many chime in. Now they are refusing to embrace what they claim to love so much?
Fuck them, I hope they go to listen someday and it all breaks/falls apart/won’t play and they are whining how if only they had digitalized these poor tapes. Boo fucking hoo.

Some of them prefer 7", some prefer 10", it's all very interesting.

I think those guys from that BBC clip are "proto-SHites".
The best part is you know all these 1950s audiophools completely lost their minds and despised The Beatles.
"Is it a religion, or a disease?"

Yes, that quote in the BBC doc , “is it a religion, or a disease?” stuck out to me! I also didn’t know Stereo was around as early as 1959. Anyway, I didn’t know where else to post this: from a Simon & Garfunkel thread: forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/simon-garfunkel-everything-thread.1083989/page-4Xogroroth from Belgium gives a tutorial about spraying a record with water while playing it to improve the sound: Ah, the magic of watering and drying your recordings.

Hogwash! Everyone knows the best thing to spray on a spinning record is hogwash. For CDs a spritz of a blend of molasses and bat guano on the transport and laser prior to insertion works grate.
