I'm hoping the lockdown and self isolation will provide artists I like the time to write a few albums worth of new material. McCartney has his home studio - he could have a few albums prepared by the time things return to normal! Usually, it seems he's too busy touring. I'm predicting a stubbled McCartney if not a full beard for tonight's Global Citizen concert. That would be something memorable and would tie into the 50th of McCartney. Out of the three surviving big 60's artists, Dylan and Stones have both released singles in the last few weeks. I'm expecting some new Paul music soon. In that case, Paul can always polish off and release an old unreleased song, like @arnold Grove suggested. Could be a Flaming Pie era track to help promote that reissue, or something else. Well, with Dylan and now the Rolling Stones I think the baseline has been established that if you are a legend and you release a single right now you are going to get a number 1. Chart chaser Paul . . . the gauntlet has been thrown, sir. You're up. I know you people will scream at me, alas. Paul could easily have a number one now and only now. That's if he enlisted a 'friend' to duet with. And then, only if the remix game is very sharp. Let's say Taylor Swift - no matter who I say I'll get yelled at - I choose her because I like her and because she commands an army of fans (which is essential for a number 1.) Paul writes a lovely duet and they release it as a proper duet. Meanwhile, he releases a version of just him, she releases a version of just her, and let's say a 4th version - a remix of the entire thing. The streams for all four versions will count the same toward listens - we learned this from Lil Nas X. I see no reason not to do this. If reports are right, a film about him is being made - the culmination of which was to be Glastonbury, that's been nixed - what better way to end the film with an actual new number 1 song. He hasn't had one in 35 years. It would be the perfect ending to the film.

The only number one single that Macca’s got left in him is the token posthumous reissue.

The only number one single that Macca’s got left in him is the token posthumous reissue. Even when he dies, they'll still expect more from him. "This isn't a good posthumous release! They should have picked x instead!"
And then Maccafan will CHIME IN with some unnervingly STRONG OPINION about dead Paul's final shitty song.

I love how when Drake hits the most number 1s or whatever it's not relevant or it's not the same, but MACCA COULD GET A NUMBER ONE NOW!!!!!

Macca's last number 1 single was in 1983. To put that into perspective, how many musicians who were popular in 1946 were still having number 1 hits by 1983?

Knowing McCartney for a few decades now...he's hanging around with a few instruments, some recording equipment close-by, it's easy to have a (let's say) trumpet solo flown in...and no touring for this year planned. Are there any signs he's working on a new track? McCartney III? That would be wonderful. Let's hope :agree: I was hoping he'd release something during the lockdown like the Stones did, but we've started to ease the lockdown in the UK now so I feel like he would have done so by now? Hopefully he'll release something later in the year though with the added benefit of promoting next year's tour. Paul could do a funny number on us and call it McCartney IV, stating that "Chaos and Creation" was III. To me it was anyway. I thought we would have seen more of him doing some numbers from home. He's been absent during most of the pandemic. Which makes me think he's definitely been spending his time making music. I mean, what else is he gonna do? He doesn't exactly seem like the kind of person who'd be binge watching TV shows to me. Ha I hadn't thought of that. It's really the perfect time for him to do another McCartney album. He can make good use of the time and do a couple while he's at it

Does it come in a collectable suitcase and/or coffin? I'll be posting some thoughts on this later this week. I can verify my source in EMI's mailroom receiving a shipment of bodybags last week. Could that mean something? Think apple shaped toe tags.

What wonderful qualities in this crappy music am I missing? Do I not have the ears? I like some Beatles and McCartney stuff but Flaming Pie is a chore to listen to at best. And the Super duper deluxe is over $565??
