$400 (well, ¥40,000 actually) was the cheapest seat at McCartney’s Budokan show in 2015. (IIRC, there were four price tiers, going from ¥40,000-¥100,000.) But, here’s the show for free (which many of you might think is still too expensive): For $400, I want a swag bag and soundcheck access. I think that actually goes for over a grand which is obscene.
For ¥40,000 I’d want a roadie to come on stage mid-set and tell Macca that the cops were going through his luggage backstage.

I’ve never seen Springsteen for one reason or another but am a big fan and would love to see a show, but given that his vocals aren’t what they were, Clarence is no longer with them and I have a bunch of shows on torrents or dvd, I think I’d put a limit of £100 on it. With social distancing, I’ll stay home and watch it on TV for free. Boring story, but I paid £85 to see him at Wembley stadium a few years ago (after Clarence had died, think it was the tour for Wrecking Ball). I’d normally never consider a stadium gig, and was worried it’d be shit, but his sound is designed for huge spaces so it worked (only other ‘big’ show I’ve seen that was designed to fill a huge space and really worked was Roger Waters whose sound was immaculate). The big band and his endless energy made it seem like Susan says about Macca, wasn’t phoning it in. After a couple of songs, he spent an hour picking song requests from the crowd’s signs (taking them from the crowd and holding them up to the band to indicate what they’d be playing next), did the hokey Dancing In The Dark onstage dance with a fan, then played all of Darkness At The Edge Of Town, then did an 45 minute encore of hits, then played an acoustic Thunder Road as the final song. It was pretty impressive as a feat of stamina from a man in his sixties who has to do that night after night on a long tour, and if he was having as much fun as he seemed throughout that tour, then he’s living his best life, as the kids say. See, stories like that make him worth taking a gamble on. You couldn’t actually pay me to go see Paul McCartney croak through the Frog Chorus and Hey Jude if he was at the end of my street.

I saw Bruce in Paris in 2012, among many other times. The show clocked at 3 hr. and 47 min. That was a lot of energy, even if I'm not the biggest fan in the world.
But there are other ways to take gambles.

I saw The River tour. Great show. Not denying his ability to perform a show. i guess for me spending $400 on any concert just seems insane. Yeah there’s the “but what if he can afford it?” argument. Still, to see a guy he’s seen like 10000 times? maybe I’m nuts.

The “but what if he can afford it?” is the base for these prices. They know that tickets are mostly sold to boomers, who don't have to raise kids or to pay for college anymore, and are flush with money, so they charge them everything they can. It's just demographics.

You should read " Twilight of The Gods - Journey To the End of Classic Rock" , the author is a big fan of The Boss and devotes a chunk of the book to the subject of Bruce.

Would one of you folks be so kind as to enlighten this newbie on the gruesome details of the raccoon/porch incident?
I've come across allusions to it in several threads now and it seemed like this one was an appropriate place to ask (it was here or the Lookingbill saga).

Oatsdad fucked a raccoon on his porch? Figures. From what I have been able to gather, one of these fine specimens decided to deal with a raccoon infestation once and for all in a very primal fashion by, er, marking his porch as his territory. It was referenced upthread here, and over in the chronicles of TYM's misadventures, but I asked in this thread specifically because reading about discount turkey burger patties smeared with the (evidently odorless) deer-hole residue on unwashed old man fingers is so viscerally nauseating that I have to limit my exposure.

Nothing shows in SC’s archives, but this Tim quote aquaholic2017 dug up last year explains a lot about Tim:

I was only a lurker back at the old place, but there was a thread where a guy was having trouble with raccoons, or maybe it was foxes, and he poated about shitting on his patio in order to scare the critters away. I want to say it was the Night Gort, but my memory is pretty hazy except for the pooping on the patio part.

(It’s from 2009.): Hello Folks, I have a problem I wonder if any of you Cat experts could help, basically this same cat comes and poos on our patio (where the children play) in the same place everyday. It is driving me nuts and I don't know what to do about it, I have seriously considered injuring the cat in some way, ie putting down food lace with poisen:shake: Anyone have any more human methods to stop it? I have seriously considered pooing in the same place, it is my property and if that is what cats do to mark there terroitry, then maybe I should mark it as mine! Would that work?
