Quelle surprise.....
In making “Mozart à Paris,” for example, a near-perfect simulacrum of a deluxe 1956 box set, Hutchison spent months scouring London’s haberdashers to find the right strand of silk for a decorative cord. The seven-disc set is Electric Recording’s most expensive title, at about $3,400 — and one of the few in its catalog that has not sold out.
Just use a colour photocopier for fucks sake.

Daddy was lamenting about ERC doing Elmo Hope “Informal Jazz”, he said something to the effect of “just get the OJC cd”. I went looking for it, couldn’t find it, so I asked him to post a link to where I could get it, so naturally he just deleted my post.
As to the ERC, I actually took the bait and ordered one, Brilliant Corners. It arrived, with the jacket so warped that I could barley get the LP out. When I finally did, side two was scuffed to hell. I emailed ERC, and they graciously gave me options, a 100% refund, or they could send me a new one at no extra cost, and send back the defective one. So I took the new copy. And, the jacket was again warped, and the LP was again scuffed on side two. So, I sent them both back and am still waiting for my 100% refund.
I never even spun it. Why? Fucken $400 that’s why.

They claim to produce “true mono” represses, on a vintage rig, hand-pressed vinyl, handmade jackets, etc. But I got two warped jackets (could not get the LP back in it, that warped) and two scuffed LPs. So, maybe they should let Pallas do the manufacturing? But then they couldn’t use their fancy gear and charge fuck-you money for their warped-scratched garbage.

Not to pick on you, but I am about as big a Monk freak as they come, and Brilliant Corners may well be my favorite album of all time, but $400 for a reissue? I'm sure an OJC vinyl sounds great, and it has been very, very well served digitally. I feel like you dodged a bullet if your refund goes through. I mean no amount of fancy pressing is going to make Orrin Keepnews' edits on the title track any less glaring.

Had the “unit” not arrived defective would I still feel this way, would I still have returned it? I like to think so.

Guess who got a copy of the latest Electric Recording Co.'s Chet Baker reissue? Yes, it's GiantLeech, who definitely needs a cockpunch.
leech
FWatty
leech
Someone not named GiantLeech has this for sale on Discogs for 595 British pounds (over $800 US). Since Leech always sells his stuff higher than other flippers, will he break the $1K barrier once he posts it?
