Of the successful bands of the sixties I always get the impression that the Hollies have been forgotten. They were not as big in the US, but in many European countries they scored a big number of top ten hits.
I am trying to figure out why the band is not relevant today. Maybe the reason is that they "spoiled" things by releasing shitty music. If they hadn't recorded any albums or singles, people might not have such a negative impression of their music.
So what should they have done differently in order to remain relevant or to be highlier regarded in retrospect?

As David Crosby well knows, if Graham Nash is in your band, you can be rest assured that at worst you’ll only ever be the second least popular member.

It has a total of ten tracks, and still has filler.

Their hits, from the 60's and 70's, are pretty good (I love Bus Stop) and then everything else is pretty shit. There's a big step down from their best to the rest.

MikeM insisting that a bunch of old geezers are the only voices that matter, they remember the Hollies fondly, dammit!

They have listenable period from late 65 to 1967 or so. Even then their LPs were spoiled by corny cheesy crap. In the 70's they turned into laughable Smokie-like MOR crap.

Most of the Hollies multis were trashed by EMI. So, tough ****.
