“ That's because the venture-capital types are rabidly combing the bins and buying those up to turn around and sell them for two and three figures apiece.” Yeah, I’m sure Mitt Romney is out there combing the dollar cd bins. (Though I would believe the rabid part.) Finally KeithH's lifelong investment is about to pay off! And to think we laughed at him as if he were some sort of fucking stupid fool or something. Mea culpa, motherfucker! Just wait until those Starbucks art prints fully appreciate.

My blood started boiling so I figured someone mentioned SAMMY HAGAR.
No, it comes from the original poater where my name came from (Zoot Marimba). The guy (I think) fancies himself some kind of critic, but he only knows about 10 words. But he'll find a way to work SAMMY HAGAR into the topic at hand just to throw an insult. It's pathetic, really. Zoot is pathetic, too. So fuck him.

forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-rising-tide-in-the-bargain-bins.977371/page-5I can’t be bothered looking for it, but there was a poat a couple of weeks back where Francophile50 said he isn’t a music fan but a pop culture fan, which does explain his choices to some extent. I don't get why they waste so much on vinyl and cds and shit. They could pay for Tidal and stream all the shit and discover new music. One very rarely needs to actually acquire a record - normally to hear some rarely used mix (AC/DC - Powerage, has a vinyl only mix from 78')
These fucks don't seem to realise, very few records will actually be worth something in the future and when you die, not a single bit of tat you own on earth will be coming with ya.
I personally buy the odd CD of an album i really enjoy but overall i couldn't give a fuck, my family won't want my music collection when i pop my clogs.

It’s nothing to do with music and everything to do with nostalgia. And bragging rights. And supposed status symbols. And a feeling of superiority when lording it over the proles, "You'll never hear {insert album title} they way I hear it, on my $800 MOFI pressing played on my $12000 turntable blasted through my $20000 receiver and $15000 speakers"... But still, the actual music is way down on the list of their priorities when it comes to blowing their cash on all this useless shit. You can't take it with you, after all...

The saga continues, I didn't copy the whole thread page, it seems "panther_dream" lives in modern times:

Does FrancoPhreak not get that probably 10% of his shitty purchases are no longer on 'the market' because millions of people have listened to God Shuffled His Feet by Crash Test Dummies or (insert random CD here), realised it's shit and got rid of it, hence there's no need for the record company to manufacture it again?
The primary selling points of the CD at its launch (durability, convenience) are exactly why there'll never be a shortage of all those crummy 90s best-sellers that were actually very bad.
on a tangent, can we compile a bingo sheet of albums (similar to the death pool) he's almost certainly going to pick up in the next month? Pick ten (they're not exclusive, you can list the same ones as others), and we'll see how we've done at the end of August. Winners gets a night with Chris DeVoe and his outtakes from Kate Bush's first photo shoot.
1. Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morrissette) 2. Out of Time (REM) 3. God Shuffled His Feet (Crash Test Dummies) 4. Razorblade Suitcase (Bush) 5. Everybody's Doing, So Why Can't We? (Cranberries) 6. Parklife (Blur) 7. Woodface (Crowded House) 8. Waking up The Neighbors (Bryan Adams) 9. Hell Freezes Over (Eagles) 10. Ten Summoners Tales (Sting)

panther_dream is correct. Yes, there are some budding young audiophools for sure out there, but last time I saw numbers, there were still more sub 30 year olds buying vinyls that didn’t even have a way to play them than those that did.

Neil Young Archives 2 is planned and some SHites found a misprinted listing that had it for $3. So without knowing what it is, people are actually spending almost $100 for 30 copies of it. Pointless stupidity.
