It is an admirable endeavor, hoarding two or more Beatard boxes. Now, let's see them prove that their half-deaf, 70-year-old SHite ears can hear the highest frequencies of even a 96 kb/s mp3. You know many on that site are nowhere near 70 years old?

Wtf?? They look at them, then put them in a box. This guy must be among the biggest SHites over there. Say what we will about anal upstairs/digit downstairs MYKE, at least the old shit listens to his racist, Southern rock bellman cut vinyls.

This was posted in the McCartney thread but fits here better. My own idiocy aside, I do wonder if they have a monthly budget for music, or if it’s just all much worse financial stupidity over there (aside from MYKE whose finances must be in a truly parlous state). They keep mentioning special credit cards and hiding stuff from the wife,so I’m assuming some of them will live off baked beans and Pot Noodles for a month whenever an Macca special edition appears on the horizon. Well, the budgeting issue is partially answered- a bunch of them are willing a box set of every outtake from the second and third King Crimson albums into existence even though a) they’re being made available digitally and b) they can’t afford it. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/king-crimson-in-the-wake-of-poseidon-sessions-available-for-download.1010374/Now even though I have opinions on King Crimson. I know this will be unlistenable bollocks (unless they include the rehearsal where Gordon Haskell calls Fripp a cunt and walks out of the band). I also used to give a minor pass to AndrewSkyDE because he’s genuinely good at putting decent Photoshopped artwork together, but not after seeing his drivel in that thread.

I like OK most of what Crimson did in their initial incarnations (1969–1974), but the endless shit-flinging — the outtake dumping, live recordings, reissuing, remastering, repackaging, box sets and more box sets, box set revisions, etc. is beyond ridiculous. Fripp is without peer in the greedy and shameless department. Plus, the man truly does believe that every flubbed outtake and crappy audience recording is worthy of being dressed up in box set finery. Or at least he knows that the dumbo audience he despises so much is going to buy whatever crap he throws at them (and then hates them even more for being dumb enough to buy it). His narcissism and utter contempt for his audience makes Herbert von Karajan and Frank Zappa seem humble by comparison. The willingness and eagerness to release all this stuff is also a real smack in the face considering his stance against bootlegs. You won't find any on the big trackers. But sure, sell it for a premium.
And then you get stuff like this, which was piped over the PA before the show I saw
I "taped" it anyway. Funnily enough, one of the pictures in that vid seems to show the same brand if not model of mic as what I had running in my pocket.
Really bringing things full circle, if memory serves me well it was a Devoe-led thread that wound up convincing me to even go to see them. I wouldn't even have been able to hum you any songs besides the two biggies from the debut. I went to the theater without a ticket as it had already sold out by time I decided to give it a shot. I had a couple of twenties already in hand (as if that was all the money I had on me) and bought a ticket off a scalper. The performance of Starless alone was worth it.

His narcissism and utter contempt for his audience makes Herbert von Karajan and Frank Zappa seem humble by comparison. I can understand the ethos; the copyright's expiring so Fripp and his associates are doing the bare minimum to make a profit off these scrapings instead of allowing some unrelated entrepeneur to do so, but it's the fans who clamour for some sort of physical presence to give this stuff a status of being worthwhile that's most objectionable. I'm pretty sure Fripp would consider this material a pile of unlistenable shit, so it's funny to see a bunch of guys - especially ones who have admitted they can't afford to buy such an indulgence - trying to make a case for a box set of musical toenail clippings because for them it isn't real unless it's pressed onto shiny silver disc.

Spend it on multi-versions of a couple dozen Tom Petty tracks:
“onm3rcur7 Forum Resident Had initially ordered the 5 cd edition. Then gave in and ordered the 3LP edition. Today I've ordered the 7Lp edition online from amazon. And now that ive just watched an interview with Adria Petty, Ryan Ulyate, David Frickle.... and realised that each format has its own small perks. ...so I'm going to buy the 4cd edition tomorrow from my local shop!
Damn. Im outta money...”

I can't feel bad about downloading albums when I know there are knuckleheads buying 19 copies.

I’d just ban the dolt. (Who was the SHite that got himself banned from Amazon for having too many returns?)
