One aspect of Dylan's genius is that "Rainy Day Women 12 & 35" still gets a rise out of SHiTES for opening Blonde on Blonde. The way SHiTES hate that song, but defend Macca's stupid drivel baffles me.

I have seen people mount a half-assed defense of "Black Messiah", claiming that Ray is doing Randy Newman-like satire. I don't buy that for a second. Look, Ray Davies certainly knows how to do satire and character sketches, and this song does not come across like that at all. My first thought on seeing your first post and hearing the song for for the first time was - i bet defenders liken it to Rednecks and cast Ray Davies as the sardonic and ironic narrator. The song seems to be a bit of a parody of Jamaican music without much sincerity. It being from a time of racial stereotyping (the 70s), it doesn't seem like a very brave move and musically it just isn't that good. Most unbearable shite? tough call. I think Hermes.

Low Budget is a classic. Tons of great riffs and a great tight band. Kinks > BEATLES Agreed, indeed. The Kinks Arista years are extremely underrated. Kudos to Clive Davis for making Ray Davies promise not to deliver any "story" albums. Yep. A relief to see no more quaint, English concept noodlings. No one has ever convinced me not to like what I like. I make no excuses.

Changing my vote to Fischman. That guy is taking unbearable prickery to new heights. That guy is horrible. Arrogant as all hell. And his opinions seem cribbed from whatever liner notes he read last.

PacificOceanBlue is another bummer of a SHite; every post is about how shitty something is. I’m adding him to my death pool along with Saer and Godshitter.
