Has there ever been any independent confirmation of this? I ask because any time a shadow falls on one of Hoffman's projects, it magically turns out someone else took it away and fucked it all up. For what it's worth, only Hoffman is credited in the booklet. No Bob Norberg to be found anywhere. The Cee Dee was reissued by S&P in 2003 and it still credits Hoffman. Also, “her management made them recall it?” Because whoever owned Capitol in whatever year this was gave a shit about what Peggy Lee’s manager thinks? (Not to mention, again, it’s the idea the artist has some Hoofman level of OCD about recordings they’re probably happy to get a few pennies royalties from, if they even get that.)

To the many of us who can’t stand the official Let It Be due to its contradictory attempt of trying to be both “raw” and “overproduced” at the same time, Let It Be Naked is a lifesaver.
Let It Be Naked is Let It Be produced like The White Album or Abbey Road. In other words, like a traditional late-period Beatles album. Sounds 100x better. It’s actually listenable.
"Let It Be...Naked sucks rocks."
Steve Hoffman, Yesterday at 3:31 PM
R. Cat Conrad, O Don Piano, Mr.Sean and 11 others like this
Why does it Steve? Is it because you didn't get your grubby mitts on the master tapes?

Laservampire is a simpleton and just spewing Steve’s bullshit.
What is this “stereoize before remixing”? Uh, ya! It’s a remix! Of course they did stuff to the individual tracks. Otherwise they wouldn’t bother remixing! I’m hardly enamoured with the new mixes but if they’re not gonna futz with shit why bother?

I don’t get - besides the obvious “it’s Hooferman’s place” answer - why these assholes continue to beat a dead horse. If they like a remix, great. If they don’t then get over it and move on. Who gives a shit? Seriously, the assholes over there suck the fun and enjoyment out of everything. No wonder they all have worthless, meaningless lives.

Wait a minute. Let's back up here. The topic is the mix/mastering of the Getz/Gilberto album. Hoffman is pontificating on the master tapes and how MFSL allegedly EQ'd them for their release. First of all, Hoffman never worked for MoFi and I'm betting the farm MFSL did not invite his lying, thieving ass to the mastering session. Second, neither DCC or Audio Futility ever reissued the album. So I'm calling complete horseshit. Hoffman was never within 100 miles of the tapes, therefore does not have a fucking clue as to how they sound. Which means he does not know what - if anything - MFSL did to the tapes. So just shut the fuck up, Hooofman.

Is anyone surprised STeVE is pulling stuff out of his ass to shit on MoFi?
(And, fuck me, Getz/Gilberto? It’s a nice album but I never need to hear it again. I have an old Verve ellpee I probably paid $1 for if I ever change my mind.)

Isn’t the intent of a proper remaster to get as close to the original release? I’m pretty sure the way it was originally issued is how it was intended to sound. He’s such a douche.

What? You're joking, right? STEVE "Pillar of the Biz" Hoffman is not pals with his compadres? C'mon. I always had visions of, say, Bob Ezrin, Ken Scott, Shawn Britton, Rob LoVerde, Bill Inglot and occasionally Paul McCartney, sitting around the fireplace at chez Hoffman, enjoying a fine claret and sitting in rapt attention as STEVE regales them with lusty tales of his Radio Daze, encounters with the SLA, Patty Hearst, Charles Manson and Juice Newton's pubes. I envisioned the highlight of the evening being, of course, STEVE's lunchtime adventures. And now it's not true? Say it ain't so, STEVE.

Or STEVE playing them some tapes from his private archive.
Someone goes; "hey, we were looking for that tape a year ago, we ended up remastering it from vinyl!"
STeVE: "Heh, sorry about that. It fell in my lap, honest. Tell you what, I'll make you a dub on my specially modified tube-DAT-recorder."
All: "Hahaha, you rock STeVe!!".
