For a parody, this is more realistic than his real interviews. I forgot that he was the one who floated the trial balloon of a Beatles Kids Band. For that alone, one has to question if he might be authentically autistic or authentically stupid or something. I've been trying to find an audio recording of the interview in which the BBC presenter announced "James blew it", but no luck. However here is some of the transcript: www.thesun.co.uk/archives/news/1159956/im-not-asking-you-about-your-father-awkward-moment-james-mccartney-refuses-to-talk-about-his-dad-in-bbc-interview/To be fair to James, I think he was reasonable to want to promote his album and not get roped into Beatarded questions three minutes into an interview. The BBC guy was being a douchebag; any musician would be pissed at that. However, fairly or unfairly, it would seem that James has indeed "blown it" unless he has Sean-like reassessment of his own (admittedly few) strengths and (admittedly many) weaknesses. Once the BBC and the Sun turn on you, you are toast unless you are really fucking punk, which James clearly isn't. I've tried to find out what he has been up to since The Blackberry Train and his tour of half empty 100-seat venues. His most recent tour of tiny venues ended in May 2017. His last show was at a 250 seat venue. I can find no sales figures for his album (and very little about it period), but it is ranked #150,961 on Amazon (CD & Vinyl). Not sure if that is good or bad, I looked up a couple other albums for context. Philosophy of the World by the Shaggs is #19,330, It's a Sunshine Day by the Brady Bunch is #30,338, To The Extreme by Vanilla Ice is #34,101 The Complete Singles Collection by Tiny Tim is #34,653, Extra Texture by George Harrison is #36,779, Ass by Badfinger is 141,279, and The Blackberry Boat by James McCartney is #150,961. So, now I am pretty sure the ranking is bad. No mention of him in Google News since May 2017, and those were mostly local news boilerplate articles about who was appearing in town. I get the impression that he seldom does interviews, which is maybe to his credit. One thing is for sure. Whatever Macca's moneymaking magic was, it will go with him to the grave. The money itself will go to James and his sisters, I presume...

I remember looking and thinking that there was there was little difference between the shittiest Beatle release, and Revolver in the minds of the fans in terms of ratings. Perhaps there should be alternate scores, for if a record had been created by someone unknown, say Extra Texture for example,... but then again I guess they wouldn't have, cause they would've been able to afford the cast of session musicians.. 'm guessing that the few people that did turn up to James' gigs did because he was the son of royalty. Finding it hard to feel for him though. Aside from the lack of personality and awkwardness (nothing wrong with that), he just doesn't seem likeable. Anyway it's not great shakes if he doesn't make it as a musician, he's never going to starve.

Disinterested, unlikable, and unkempt.
He also seems to be a joyless Beatard.
In other words, the perfect SHite:

One good thing about James: He makes me look like an irresistible sex beast.

Yeah, I admit that behind my ruthlessly anti-social internet facade, I am a softy at heart. Thanks for the reality check though, I needed it. Yes, I still think he is an autistic doofus who isn't all there, a man who clearly has some daddy issues, an overstuffed arrogant trust fund slacker, a mind-bogglingly characterless performer, a sweaty pudgy balding fat guy who looks uncomfortable in anything he wears, good creepy avatard fodder, and a perpetual living embarrassment (one presumes) to dad.
When I say he has daddy issues, incidentally, I'm not kidding. He had no problem telling Entertainment Tonight that he got a lot of attention growing up making it hard to be a grownup. Actually, he did have some problems telling it to ET. Whenever he does speak, he garbles every sentence and trails off, like the thought he was verbally expressing was only half-formed and fleeting. In half of his interviews mention of his dad makes him seethe, and in half of his interviews, dad and dad's old band (the first one) is all he will talk about, without actually saying anything.
At any rate, vapid is the word for this one. Below is the entirety of what else we learned:
Once again he tells us he was into Nirvana, Beatles, and Stones...
His philosophy of life? "Having fun" he joylessly intones in the monotone he never ever breaks from.
About his music: "I just want people to enjoy it"
And that's all folks. Taylor Swift is a Kantian philosopher in comparison.
(Oh and the music clips are hideous. Add "can't even carry his own tune" to the list...)
I think I've explored the career of James McCartney about as deep as it goes now. There really is nothing much beyond this. "Cipher" is the word that keeps returning to me...

Kinda weird how this guy is not a huge thing over on Shiteville really. I mean, no one over there would notice that his music is garbage, and he has the holy blood of Ser Paul flowing through his veins. In theory, they should absolutely love him.
Oh, wait. He was born after 1950. That explains it. Never mind.

You have an urge to post about ONJ, Cliff Richard and other non black, whiter than white slabs of 45s from 70s. I imagine he is this bear queen in a ghastly Christmas sweater and Elton John big glasses.

Wow. Never realised he was that bad. He should go back to his day job. Daddy begging. Paul has enough dough to stop him from doing this rubbish. At least Lennons and Georges kids have occasionally put some half decent music out there.

He should just take whatever monies Papa Paul is willing to part with and do what all the hip trust fund kids do: get into remastering.

Wow. Never realised he was that bad. He should go back to his day job. Daddy begging. Paul has enough dough to stop him from doing this rubbish. At least Lennons and Georges kids have occasionally put some half decent music out there. I think the key to the mystery of why he does it lies in what the woman from Delaware quoted her friend as saying: "I just couldn’t understand why he was giving such a disappointing performance. My answer came by way of a friend after the show when she said, “I think this is therapy for him.”The clip where Macca comes onstage when James and Ronnie Wood are playing offers us a rare (and weird) glimpse into their dynamic. James and Ronnie were playing at an art gallery exhibiting Wood's paintings. James might have dared to think, "wow, here I am playing with a Rolling Stone, and I didn't have to rely on dad" Then, fucking dad shows up. In that video, James does indeed appear visibly stunned, and he doesn't look happy. He never looks happy, but in that clip there's something in his body language saying "what the fuck are you doing here!?" Macca then makes what I think was an interesting move. Exuding oily charm, he playfully pats the sweaty James' cheek, as if saying "whatsamatter, ya big palooka?" as all attention in the room, which probably had been wandering for the whole show, is now focused on him. That looked like one of Macca's little trademark passive aggressive moves right there. This kid really does need some kind of therapy, because I don't think this plan is working out right for him.
