Just got this not-very-encouraging response from the Tom Petty store: "Hi Jeff, Thank you for reaching out. The Wildflowers album is scheduled to release on October 16th. We are starting to ship orders with the Wildflowers CDs and LPs starting this week and will continue through next week. I apologize, but I am unable to give you an exact ETA for when your order will be shipped. We are working as diligently as we can to make sure everyone's orders arrive undamaged and in a timely manner. I understand this is a highly anticipated purchase and we will be sure to send tracking information once your order ships. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can assist you further. Thank you," Same response I got verbatim. I pried further and got this: "Unfortunately, we did not make any promises that customers would receive their albums by October 16th. On the product's page, we only claimed we would start shipping the week of October 16th." Cool. Semantics. Why else would a pre-order ship w/o release date if not to guarantee delivery on release day?

I just find it funny that "the Tom Petty store" is a thing, a thing that exists. The Tom Petty store is a major part of the box set industry.

oh no, guess they'll have to stream the album until the boxset arrives, with time to find a parking space on their bookshelf for it, where it will eventually sit untouched for 20-30 years...

Hey daved has yours shipped yet? No they have not who do I complain to? My copy is out for delivery BUT I can’t see the courier’s progress on the Amazon tracker and that makes me nervous that the estate may have recalled all copies at the last minute. Sweating and shaking.

Hey daved has yours shipped yet? Delayed. <sad trombone> I think karma got the better of us - I got an email from Amazon saying my order was delivered but nothing actually came. They’ve had to escalate it to an “investigation”. Unbelievable. I can’t help thinking though that had it been dispatched in a whiplash envelope things might have ended differently.

Never liked Tom too much. The song in Silence of the Lambs worked well there. Tom & Co. played here years ago and started almost 2 hours late for "technical reasons," although the opening act, The Fabulous Poodles, sounded really good. Watching the Heartbreakers was a snooze fest and I went to Dizzy-Whizz instead for a WhizzBurger. The only thing off Wildflowers I remember is You Don't Know How It Feels and that's not so hot IMHO. Mmmm. Whizzburger.

This is the funny thing - I have a friend who also lives in Louisville and loves it, and was recently reading Chris Frantz’s autobiography where he talks about growing up in KY, while his dad was posted at Fort Campbell, and it all sounds idyllic. But trying to square that with a state that’s repeatedly elected Mitch McConnell just won’t work. Is it the rural voters outnumbering the liberal city voters or something else?

Yes, there are 120 counties in KY and in statewide elections all but two or three are solid red, the exceptions being the ones with the largest cities. McConnell specific note, US senators have 6 year terms and after a while become almost impossible to uproot.

John Yarmuth said McConnell is like that old tree stump in your front yard. You just want it gone. Yarmuth is the Democrat that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mistakenly tweeted as an older GOP member. I guess we all look alike to her. Heh.
