Danby Delight Replies
"Those records had been played on Dansettes and console stereos from Montgomery Ward. They had no collector value anyway."

I have no idea what this is even about. And I'm pretty sure that's a good thing.

It is a very good thing - but I'll tell you anyway just to piss you off a weird thread about burning Beatard records and that bigger than Hoffman Jesus malarkey I'm a bit surprised that topic is off-limits, since it is such a big part of history, although I guess anything that can potentially lead to invoking the KKK can be trouble. There's nothing anyone could possibly have to say about the topic that hasn't been said in the 51 years since the incident anyway. Plus, a lot of SHites have become sympathetic to the KKK's views ever since Whoopi Goldberg expressed her appreciation for the Beatles not being racists and letting her attend their concert.

Ohhh, got it.
Well, who can blame them. Because it's so much better to just pretend that nothing bad ever happened back in the glorious "rock-era", right?
NOTHING BAD HAPPENED! RIGHT?!

There were some issues in Vietnam and, I believe, Kent Ohio University at one point, but CSNY and Country Joe & The Fish took care of them.

The topic was actually an interesting one. The idea was being considered that perhaps those Beatle bonfires were exaggerated. The picture they shared seemed to mainly show a burning couch with some Beatles rekkids placed a top. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was trumped up by the media. Just more bullshit to get parents and old folks of the time riled up. Anything that kids like has to be bad. In '66, it was the Beatles. In 2004, it was jelly snap bracelets. Know what they are? Probably not. Innocuous and short lived trend. But a girl in my school (or, really, her mother) went to the media claiming that they were "sex bracelets." nypost.com/2004/05/25/sex-bracelet-girl-kicked-out/Now, I wasn't the coolest kid in school, but I knew what went on, or to this point, what didn't go on. Whole story is complete shit. But of course, bracelets were banned, parents were shocked and horrified, and kids just couldn't enjoy being kids. There is a whole separate tangent one could go down about how, after this hysteria, a group like the Monkees was a safe alternative to those evil beatles. This topic actually has quite a lot of potential for fruitful and interesting discourse, but it's for the better that it got shut down. It surely wouldn't have worked well with the shiteville brain trust.

Interesting topics have no place at Shiteville.
Now, how 'bout them Beatles?! Huh?! Our boys, wohooo?!

It was probably one of the more right wing Gorts who zapped that thread...some of the comments about things haven't changed much in the South since 1966 mighta hit close to home for some of those Alt-right assholes. I was tempted to poat in that thread about how Lennon was like the Colin Kapernick of his era (as in earning the ire of the Right simply for speaking his mind)but thought better of it.

I just love the irony of how all those washed out old boomer hippies are now a bunch of hatefueled Trumptards.
