I wish I had an account over there... Nah. You don't, not really. Fuck it, let it go. Best advice I can give you, or anyone.

Of course, and this should go without saying (but we are talking Steve fucking Hoffman), is if you believe what the asshole is shoveling at you. I call horseshit. At best we have two individuals mightily scamming. No more, no less.
No honor amongst theives, Skeeve is just jealous.

Worth a reminder...
"For all his success and name recognition, we have always found it a bit odd that Hoffman never enjoyed any formal education to perform the technical duties that come with being an actual mastering engineer. He works intuitively and relies mostly on his hearing capabilities. We don't begrudge him that but we’d argue that the best mastering engineers out there have benefited from both educational and job experience. (1)
The story -as Hoffman himself told it- was that during his early tenure at MCA he felt the albums he compiled on paper did not come out sounding the way he wanted, and so he wormed his way into the engineering department. There, he learned the tricks of the trade from the same people who supposedly were the same ones “screwing up” his projects. MCA let him have his way, even though he officially remained an A&R and his audio engineering activities were mostly frowned upon by the actual engineering staff. (2)(3)
After his tenure with MCA, Hoffman managed to impress the owner of a small record label with stories about his former tape pulling and mastering activities and he was eventually hired as the label’s in-house engineer. The pressure was on and Hoffman developed a new mastering style that became the trademark for DCC discs and which brought him both praise and criticism. Some listeners loved the bass heavy sound, while others accused him of overdoing the EQ’ing*. (4)(5)
DCC’s focus lay on the compact disc and Hoffman’s experience with this medium was one of the reasons why they hired him. But even though DCC aspired to be an audiophile label like Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, Hoffman didn't seem interested in the evolution of digital technology, as he preferred to stick with his DAT machine to record his final masters. Despite the fact that DAT is a consumer recording format that has no CRC error correction and is therefore considered unprofessional, Hoffman has defended his choice by claiming it sounded “closer to analog”. (6)
In contrast, Hoffman deeply disproved of digital audio workstations, claiming its use causes noticeable deterioration in sound quality (even with simple actions such as copying/pasting & raising the volume). A data verification test could dispel this claim but Hoffman dismisses scientific evidence, instead preferring to rely on his hearing capabilities. Such was his averse that he admitted cutting up the priceless mastertape of Jethro Tull’s Aqualung album despite Ian Anderson’s strict forbiddance, so he could avoid making a simple digital edit. (7)(8)
Come the 21th century, Hoffman gained a significant reputation as the owner of his internet message board. He built a name for himself on strongly denouncing any form of compression/peak limiting and by advocating the advantages of all-analogue mastering with tube equipment. He was critical of the (re-)mastering trend of making the sound louder at the expense of dynamic range which ended up making him one of the leading opponents of the so-called "loudness war". (9)
Despite this development, Hoffman continued his long-time habit of recording his digital masters slightly in the red§. He defended himself once by saying he knew how to do this "from practice" but never explained why he felt this was necessary, let alone why he considered clipping± a better alternative to using a digital peak limiter. (10) Yet, Hoffman seemed aware that his new-found fame put his mastering work under closer scrutiny and he gradually adapted a more conservative approach. This change in style did not go unnoticed and many of his followers feel that his later work does not match with the quality of the DCC era.
The popularity of his forum initially did gain him a broader clientèle and Hoffman opted to rely more on the engineering talents of Kevin Gray, whom he had long depended on for technical advice. (3) But this alliance ended in 2009 (as supposedly did their friendship), leaving Hoffman no option but to return to his homestudio. The work he did there after the breakup with Gray suffered from problems in the digital engineering department such as jitter, wrong trackindexing and faulty HD decoding, which harmed Audio Fidelity’s reputation. (11) After a lengthy search, Hoffman finally found a new companion in Stephen Marsh who owns a small mastering-studio in L.A.. His role has now been reduced to instructing Marsh to apply the equalization curves he prepares at home and add layers of tube distortion (12), while all the engineering duties are being handled by the studio-owner. (13) This caused some of Hoffman's criticasters to call him an “EQ Consultant”. (14) But even the man himself once hinted that his current duties may not be fully deserving of the label "Mastering Engineer". (15)"

I guess not all recording studios can be as sophisticated as STeVe’s basement with a laptop and two speakers to remasturbate on.
