Noted Dylan lunatic Richard—W is worried that a bonus CD from Dylan’s evangelical era bootleg series might get damaged, as well as his ‘backup’ copy.
He may be taking the piss, but at this point I genuinely can’t tell.

"The archive" = "The mountains of garbage that my survivors are going to sell for pennies on the dollar" My stuff that's worth anything more than pennies on the dollar is catalogued on Discogs, so should I die suddenly, my wife knows what she can make some quick cash on and what she can throw away with all the other detritus I've accumulated along the way. It's odd when you scan something seemingly innocuous and discover it's worth about £50 though!

It's a nice feeling to have bought a record just because you actually wanted to hear it and find later you've accidentally got something valuable. Good idea about Discogs catalogue. I've used it for seeing if a batch was worth buying and for a specific part of collecting, but not much else.

I've used it for seeing if a batch was worth buying and for a specific part of collecting, but not much else. I set it up ages ago, to check when all my Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson shit hits a price that I can't resist selling it at, then decided to expand at when I found out some other stuff was worth quite a bit. From there, it was just a case of giving Sarah my account details and telling her that when I die, that's where the good stuff is listed

I mean, an original copy of It's Alive by The Ramones for about £60-70, you've got to be fucking kidding? Izzy Stradlin and The Ju Ju Hounds debut CD (Japanese import, complete with Obi, I hasten to add! ), £70?

Imagine my surprise when I found Keane's first album was worth around £100. Possibly not now it's had another cut, mind you. The CD was probably easily found in a charity shop for £1 or less at the time.

I sold the SACD of Keane - Hopes And Fears I found for $5 at HPB for $100 a few years ago. If you like this album the DualDisc in surround is pretty cheap.

Loads on CD, far less on vinyl, but then vinyl demand went up several years later.

I've got a few now out of print SACDs which I bought when I was getting into that kind of stuff which are probably worth a bit now. I have the DualDisc, but it's missing a track (I think the SACD is as well) and sounds like the fronts should be the rears and vice-versa to me. I just can't be bothered to switch the wiring to find out.

The deals threads are full of these: Whenever I find a good one for $50usd or less, I tell my wife it's for the archive if nothing else. Luckily she's not immune to the charms of "music."
