It's almost like they forgot why sensible people were keen to ditch vinyl when CD came along.

I don't understand why so many people find it so difficult to play a record. If I thought it was that hard or every record I bought sounded too noisy, I'd just stream or buy CD's of the things I can't stream. Joel Nohnn's cantilever and suspension on his cart have to be wrecked if he pressed down enough to dislodge a booger or blow through something damaged. I don't drive a stick shift because I'm not good at it and I think it makes driving a chore, not a joy and all I want to do is get where I'm going. I don't let my friends and acquaintances that love shifting gears talk me into buying a manual transmission because I don't think I'll ever grow to love it. This crap that only records can sound great has to end sooner or later. Some records sound better than digital versions and some sound worse. Digital and analog pretty much at the very least sound good. Asking Hoofy's Dinks why his records don't sound good will just confuse the guy more.
Are there still music forums where people don't care about the way they listen, they just like music? That's where that guy should be. He should get there soon, before they turn him into a guy that hates everything.

This is from the satirical magazine Private Eye from about 8 years ago: Even PCS 3042 seems to enjoy himself more than those guys.

New vinyl has pops and crackles.
I commented in that thread. This kind of stuff is a constant over there.

And here I thought the pops and crackles were part of the charm.

Vinyls are an ancient format and require a mechanical playback. I have zero problem with anyone who insists on listening to their music on it. Just don't whine, piss and moan about its inherent flaws. Enjoy every crackle, pop, skip and inner groove distortion and shut the fuck up.

I buy new vinyl and never really have the issues these guys keep prattling on about. I'm guessing most of it comes down to having realistic expectations vs. freaking out over every little imperfection.

Not really related to the above, but I get frustrated by the "vinyl is a perfect representation of the original analogue signal" thing, ignoring or being unaware of the EQing and whatever that goes into cutting the lacquer and then various plating and so forth. If digital is a dot to dot by that thinking then vinyl is some kind og potato print. nah, it's just what I've listened to all my life and that's the sound I like

There must be a closet Shite here who has purchased or heard a “One Step”. Is there any validity to this snake oil? Is there really a noticeable difference? We've had a couple in used at the shop, Hotel California and Abraxas. They sounded really good. Of course...the SHiteys are over there sucking Skeeve's hoof : "The one-step of Hotel California sounds amazing, only slightly below Our Host's remasturbation." Someone honestly said the One-Step doesn't have the same "breath of life", I shite you not. leaving class now or I'd link it
