Ok . The whole CONCEPT of the movie is a manufactured grievance " lets make the same movie, but everyone will be black" . Better? I assure you the chances of me watching it are pretty slim. The problem is not that black people will be in the movie, the problem is that the movie will exist solely so black people can be in it. In my experience that doesn't lead to good movie making. The same thing can be said about remakes where they change the cast to all women. It's a gimmick, to appeal to a certain audience, the quality of the film making becomes secondary, or tertiary, and that is usually painfully obvious in the resultant movie. |

The same director is also remaking The Wizard Of Oz. If real life flying monkeys are not used I will start an online boycott campaign. He should remake "The Wiz" with a non-black cast! But look what happened with the live action remake of The Little Mermaid. Since the day it was released, you can only watch the original on Disney+, or on DVD or on Blu-ray, or on UHD Blu-ray. The direct-to-video sequels and the TV show aren't available on UHD Blu-ray. The soundtrack album is available on streaming "services", CD, but the vinyl version is a picture disc that wasn't really mastered by a true professional like STeVE. At Disneyland and Disneyworld, they may at some point change the look of Ariel from the animated version to a Black girl, and it's very disturbing about the implications on who can or can't be an imaginary creature in the Caribbean Sea. There also may be a whole generation of pubescent teens who will think of a non-white girl in a seashell bra while masturbating, which is totally non acceptable to me.

Remake a classic to fit today’s audience for the sole purpose of profit. I am ok with this. But to say an 80 year old classic is now inappropriate because there are only white people in it just smacks of racism. The kung fu movies I watch all have Asians in them. Highly inappropriate. |
