I have no sympathy with the fuckers who routinely brag about spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars on cables and other fool's gold whining that their attempts at taking advantage of a pricing error didn't work. Fuck these spoiled assholes. That said, I have no doubt that Amazon would have actually honored the errant price if it was only for a few people who innocently stumbled upon it. It was the sudden flood of unusually numerous orders that obviously raised the red flag and drew attention to the issue on Amazon's end. And that is 100% the SHites' fault for shouting about it for all the world to know. Really, what do they expect? The SHites' bitching and moaning in the aftermath also produced some decent Stereo Central fodder. For that, we should truly be grateful they are always so righteously indignant.

A week ago yesterday in the Amazon Deals thread on Huffy's board a member posted that the Sgt Pepper Deluxe Box was going for $70 from Amazon Warehouse and a 20% coupon for Earth day that brought it to just over $60 with tax. Figured WTF and ordered. Showed up on Tuesday, but I didn't get around to checking it out until yesterday. I've been a bit dismissive of the album lately, but this really turned that around for me. I won't rag on Giles since I've only played the remix once. It did sound "boosted", but that shouldn't surprise me about a remix since there should be more of a separation. I won't share my opinion on Huffy's website since I don't want to fill out my equipment profile.

I will, however, allow members here to examine my equipment at their leisure.

My account got gorted (I shone brightly for a few minutes). But when I make a new one I'm going to copy Grant's exactly.

I had the same idea. Was trying to decide between Grants's and Hoofy's though.

Fill it with Sherwood components. Hell of it is, I actually have a Sherwood receiver and have no complaints about it whatsoever. Fuck these elitist assholes with their twenty thousand dollar systems.

I am sure that 98% of those SHite equipment profiles are made up bullshit anyway. Not that Hoffman gives a fuck as long as he has a list of profiles, made up or not, to sell to the marketers. I'm thinking you are correct on both points, Cola.

I bought the Sooper Dee-Luxe set and I don't regret it. The remix is in no way radical; for the most part I thought it sounded good. And some of the outtakes are fab. The book is pretty but the verbage inside self-serving. The odd tidbit of (at best) semi-obscure info, but all with a subtext of "OMG greatest album by greatest fab phenomenon ever whose historical importance is unprecedented in the history of the world" which is kinda true in a way, given the Beatles' accomplishments, but fuck, the Beatles myth at this point is... eating itself, or something.

I got mine last year for $105 on Amazon after using some reward points. I kept only the CDs and Blu-ray and sold everything else (DVD, books, whatever) for $172 on eBay. (The DVD sold for $50, the rest for $122. Unbelievable!) So mine cost me -$67.00!

I opened the White Album thread. I don't know why I did. It's just alexpoop and psychedelic good trip going back and forth in "tweet" style poats. It was a painful experience and I deserved it.

Don't forget about "bherbert"'s endless shilling for Giles Martin...plenty of those poats in that thread. I wish I could forget Gawd help me, I'd like to know who bherbert really is...he joined the SHiTEs right at the height of the whole " Sgt Pepper Remix" debacle and defended the remix vehemently- the dude is completely fucking obsessed with Beatles remixing, it's practically all he ever poats about. He praises and/or defends Giles Martin to the skies. I'd laugh me balls off if he turned out to be Giles Martin (doubt it, but y'never know) or someone who was actually involved with the remixing projects. He comes across like someone who has too much of a personal stake in remixing the Beatles than just being one more newbie Beatard SHiTE. Hell of it is, you can remix the Beatles albums till yer blue in the face and they still won't sound that good simply because of the way they were recorded. I was listening to Miles Davis' Miles In The Sky on the way to work tonight- another fifty year old album, whose sound quality blows The Beatles' records off the fuckin' map. Especially the White Album... Miles In The Sky, on the other hand, coulda been recorded yesterday.
