Analogue Productions - Buddy Holly - The Chirpin' Crickets LP and SACDFinally had a chance to listen to the SACD and it's a big improvement over Steve's MCA compilation. The levels are lower and it sounds more dynamic. While Steve's was sort of a flat "warts and all" approach, Kevin brought out the magic in the midrange as only he can. Much greater detail on the SACD.

I hope Edwin Hawley packed his kevlar boxer briefs. No remastered essay ceedee could come close to the flat transfer that was Steve's Buddy Holly. Especially the early Japanese pressing which somehow made the flat transfer somehow sound even flatter. Nothing ever could. Buddy Holly is great, but his recordings were shit. Any mastering of this recording is fine.

What I don't get is Edwin Hawley is normally one of the peopsons that spends a great deal of his forum time nuzzling the host's nutsack. Things are changing.
