He has 50,000 members with likely skeletons in the closet so he can’t risk alienating or having the SEO work against him. Fuck Hoffman, enabling vag-necked thief.

Now that Spector is dead, is he busy in heaven producing a Charles Manson album along with Joe Meek at the knobs?

Steve: czeskleba (a bit later in the thread and not directed to steve) Steve This was in an older Kim Fowley thread that got bumped when the other threads were locked, so originally it wasn't about her but Steve's post obviously was. The older part of the thread has some bullshit stories about Steve and John Oteri hanging out on the Strip with Kim, Rodney Bingenheimer and Sky Saxon.

If we ignore for a moment that uncle Phil killed a girl, he was still a piece of shit. He psychologically abused Ronnie for years, during and after their marriage. I remember when I first asked my old man about Spector, he described him as a gangster. This was after the murder but he too already thought very little of Spector even before that. Did he produce some great albums? Sure he did! But for the past however many years I've been able to say that I can listen to his stuff whenever I want because I'm not in prison for murder. And now I can listen to his stuff whenever I want because I'm not dead.

Ah, the delusional boomer SHitethink of "Never mind Phil's unpleasantness; his music is timeless!" A vocal segment of SHites are hysterically yapping that "young people" are and always will "discover" Spector music, long after his "transgressions" are "forgotten." Who are they fucking kidding? (Answer, per usual: themselves.) Love them or hate them, Spector's recordings have sounded positively ancient for decades. There are no young people who are listening to this shit, and it doesn't take a sage to know with certainty that there won't be any doing so in the future either. These SHites really do believe that there are teenagers sitting around today with mouths agape while hearing "Da Doo Ron Ron" for the very first time, sighing wistfully that things in their lifetime can never be as good as they were in boomer times. SHites also believe that Covid is just the flu and that Trump actually won in a historical landslide, so there you go. I was thinking about this today - SHiTEs overlook the fact that it's now 2021, and they are further and further away from their glory years, and that the stuff they consider new and modern (ie anything after 2000 if we're being generous) is now 'old' to today's young people. I think back to when I was 21, and anything that was released in the years before I was born seemed ancient. Something released more than a 20 years before I was born was prehistoric. There's always the odd outlier (like those weird teenagers who join up at Hoofy's and claim they're the only ones in their peer group listening to Jimi Hendrix and everyone else is listening to (c)rap music), but play Today I Met The Boy I'm Going To Marry to anyone under 30 and it's going to sound more like the Glenn Miller Band than Ariana Grande and treated with the same level of interest (i.e. not much).

Am I the only one who thinks The Wall of Sound is more like The Wall of Shit? Honestly, I never got why Spector's work was so revered in the first place. Maybe you had to be there?

Am I the only one who thinks The Wall of Sound is more like The Wall of Shit? Honestly, I never got why Spector's work was so revered in the first place. Maybe you had to be there? I imagine it sounded pretty cool coming out of a tinny AM radio. Nothing else sounded like that. And his arrangements were pretty wild for simple pop songs. But it sounds more dated than any music from that era now. They were show tunes for kids.
