RIP Canadian beloved by Canadians and rightly ignored by everyone else. That reminds me. Where the fuck is DaveD? As soon as I heard the news, I screamed, "NO! DEAR GOD, NO!" and dropped my baby on her head. I know we have lost a lot of the great ones lately like Norman Petty and Ken Hensley, but this one hurt me personally. I am not a Canuck and never got into hockey much, but I think everyone who poats here can agree that Gordie Howe was bigger than the NHL; he belonged to all of us. Too soon, Gordie, to soon. Gordie Howe? Howe died? Fuck. I thought was Gordie Lightfoot. Why the fuck are all Canucks named Gordie anyway? Can't keep track of who's dead and who isn't.

RIP Canadian beloved by Canadians and rightly ignored by everyone else. That reminds me. Where the fuck is DaveD? I'm near ready to kill myself. I feel bad for the dude but holy fuck they're going on and on. Ask any of those weepy fuckers if they bought a Tragically Hip album in the last 15 years. Not a chance. They basically built their career on the first 4 albums.

So far, George Young of the Easybeats (and Malcolm and Angus' brother) seems to be flying under the radar... I'm surprised; I figured there were more AC/DC fans at Hoofer's but maybe they are a too recent band...

Hmmm. That is odd. At least the Ozzie punters should be crying in their Foster's. After all, the guy co-wrote the Oz national anthem.

Been another banner year for saying goodbye to important entertainment luminaries. The Mets sucked this year too, but there's always next year. Don't worry Eric, in another 20 years, it will all be over.

One of Paul's favorite musicians has passed away: Fats Domino: Randy Newman will be crushed as Fats was one of his favorites. I love the use of that song in The Blues Brothers R.I.P. Not my music but he was a LEGEND. Believe it or not Blueberry Hill was covered (among others) by... Vladimir Putin.

Why do these cunts all seem to think Blueberry Hill was written by Fats Domino? It was an oldie when he covered it.

How old could it be? Music started in 1954. Did McCartneyism start around 1954 or was that skiffle? Either way, I'm not surprised Hoover had it in for Lennon.

One of the great things about Fats Domino is that his music was warm hearted. It wasn't cynical or hateful, somewhere along the way that got co-opted into rock music and never went away, which IMO ultimately lead to the irrelevancy of the form. People talk of the rebellion aspect of rock but from my perch here high in the trees:) the rebellion was -for- freedom not -against- humanity itself. Wrong left turn, very bad mindset.
