Sad article and commentary on concert goers in San Diego in the SD Tribune today
Steve Winwood played as San Diego audience yammered nonstop
I'd be furious if I paid good money to hear Stevie play and had to put up with the crowd yammering.
But then, I'm a grumpy old curmudgeon and complain about clouds.
Still - what happened to manners?

Chemguy:
Poor concert manners are rampant these days. Don't you wish for audiences that sound like the acoustic set from all of Bob Dylan's 1966 tour?...no hootong and stupid stuff during a song or even in-between, with polite and enthusiastic applause after?

manners went out the window when talk radio and reality tv came into vogue.
correctodad:
Can't imagine people not being totally mesmerised by Steve Winwood. Beyond belief.
klockwerk:
Cell phone culture.
gregorya:
"All that matters is me" culture...
DTK:
Is that the same as the narcissistic a-hole culture I spot every day?
fantgolf:
As someone who studies and collects research on this subject, you are spot on. The culture has become addicted to distraction (brain science) and they are unable to pay sustained attention to anything. Society has yet to recognize and understand the seriousness of the consequences of this issue. It is a proven cause of the significant increases in anxiety, depression, and attention deficit in our society today. Sorry for the free lecture
JoeF:
This has nothing to do with talk radio. It's simply a decline in overall manners and common sense that has been ongoing for a few decades. That and cell phone culture.
SixtiesGuy:
I will not pay to attend a concert only to have it spoiled by rude, stupid, distracted and self-absorbed people. I suppose this is a reflection of how music is regarded in today's culture. To most, it's a wallpaper of background sound to accompany the inane crap they're otherwise doing.
mikedifr0923:
It's the me me me instant gratification social media culture these days. It's sad.
micksmuse:
almost seems like you are watching society de-evolve before your eyes
SixtiesGuy:
No kidding.
