In my line of work, I work almost exclusively with Asian clients. A lot of Asians, especially women, like to snap pics of the meal when it arrives at the restaurant and send it out to whatever social media they use. I always thought the practice was kind of silly, although I am a grinch who seldom bothers taking pictures of anything. When I asked about it, they told me that it is both a way of creating a little scrapbook memory of a pleasant time, and also to keep in touch with friends with a picture that says "I am having a fun and interesting time today" I thought those both sounded like reasonable explanations. I even tried it myself once, when I was at a Tibetan restaurant on Xmas Eve. The meal and decorations looked so nice, I snapped a pic tweeted it. Moments later, I had received a bunch of well-wishes. It was nice; kind of a warm, fuzzy feeling to have a moment of instant warmth from friends.
I never bothered doing it again, because I'm really not a picture taker. But I get it.
Frankly, only a prick would get upset by it, and anyone who would say "you withdrew from me" should not get a second date.

To aging Boomers, the biggest thing Millennials are guilty of is always being on our phones instead of socializing with the people we are with. Even if that were true (it's not), it's far better than what Boomers do for pastimes, like crashing the economy

Now, they were just sitting down to their meal, but presumably they had been spending time together already by this point. She even notes a "satisfied smile" which indicates to me that he clearly enjoys posting food pics or whatever. I personally wouldn't ever bother to post a food pic while I was with someone. For that matter, when I'm with people, I usually pull my phone out only after they do. But that's just it. I don't cry that they are not devoting every ounce of attention towards me.
Also, this is a friend, not a first date or anything. Being friends means that you should be comfortable just being together.

And, is it just me or does it seem like most, if not all, of the female SHiTEs are a little bit...off. Maybeimamazed, Mikaela Arsenault, Janet, If I Can Dream, Paulette...yeah, I know at least one or two of 'em have genuine issues but I think it's safe to say that I personally wouldn't be taking any of these broads home to meet mum and dad, know what I mean? They seem a little bit nuts, and that's coming from a guy who was a genuine "crazy chick magnet" for a lotta years (my wife is the only remotely sane woman I've ever been involved with!)

That place is full of guys (always guys) who take great pleasure in mistreating cashiers, stiffing waitresses, trolling/abusing telemarketers, etc. It takes a small, small person to pull shit like that. I figured Carl Swanson would pop off in that thread. He's a classic self-styled "curmudgeon" in the MYKE mold who takes tremendous pride in what a petty asshole he is. |
