This is a completely unscientific and non-technical observation, but one reason listening to vinyl make the musical experiencing exciting is the anticipation of what's waiting for you in those grooves. It's a more holistic experience because it's most sensible to play through each side of a record and wait through it to discover what comes next. To put it simply, it requires more of an extended time out for music (and from life, which is a good thing) than skipping through tracks on your iphone or on YouTube.

Additionally there is the whole physical interaction thing with the vinyl format as well, which for me manifests itself with a greater sense of anticipation for the music.

To be able to watch the turntable working to make that sound come out of those speakers is a piece of art. Simplicity of an object performing a task for the sake of an artists art. The turntable really is a modern marvel.
The art of vinyl is that is a physical activity that one can witness visually while listening to. You can smell it lick it and feel it if one wants to too. It is the real thing.
What a bunch of moronic fuckers.
Their child like brain is simply delighted and amazed by the simple mechanics of a record player and the fact it goes round and round. (Digital is way too complex for their retarded brains to understand). They also appear amazed that when they put the record on music comes out. Regardless of how many times they have played their Beatard or Classic Rock records they are still in anticipation of how it might sound or if sound will come out at all.
Daily living must be very difficult for these vinyl lovers as the spinning disc always gives them a much needed break from 'life' and I'm sure this 'life' is a constant mystery to them. I imagine they are amazed and astounded every time mail comes through the door, a bus turns up or they see a plane in the sky.
