I don't get too worked up over certain pens. Some are better than others and I prefer a medium point, but all in all they work well enough for my simple needs.
Now, if you want me to get all weird about any desk items I will go the extra mile for a great pair of scissors. I really dislike a sloppy, worn, damaged non-functional pair of scissors.
I do not know of one single cheap pair that is any good for very long...if ever for that matter.
I sharpen my scissors so they cut smooth and consistent. I like the feel of an almost effortless smooth cut. I like it even more when I can make that cutting glide along the entire face of the cut without a snag, tear, or bind of any sort.
The problem with using high end scissors is when the others in the house do not understand what went into getting them so very good. When they don't understand they take the scissors and use them to prune plants and such...even though there are pruning shears right in the shed. Apparently the shed is too far away.
Then they take the scissors to a Girl Scout event and everyone uses them because they are so much better than anything else. After the event they are also missing and the people who took them wonder why I am upset at losing just another pair of scissors.
Go check the prices on a good pair of Gingher scissors. I originally purchased them thinking this was the last time I would need to purchase scissors...Nope, wrong again.
