The SHites are at it again, this time worrying over how they should choose which music to listen to, and NO ONE parties like Terrapin Station who has this system figured out: “No time, really. I listen systematically. I select artists. My system is partially by rotations, partially random. For the random part I literally use a random number generator to select an artist (I use the random.org site). Once the artist is selected, I listen to the next album in that artist's discography in chronological order--I keep track of the last album I listened to. I have Excel documents for all of the releases in my collection, all of the artists in my collection, etc. Other than that, some listening is via song shuffle, and then there's stuff I need to listen to as a musician, because of a gig or something I'm working on. It's rather rare that I listen to anything by whim. I do that every once in awhile, though, and I certainly want to play friends, family, musicians I'm working with, etc. specific things at times, but in those cases, I only play something after I have a need or urge re exactly what to play. Aside from obviously being a bit OCD in some ways, I developed the system I have primarily in order to learn as much music as I can and to ensure maximum variety, because I get burned out on any music if I hear it too often.” forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/how-long-does-it-take-for-you-to-select-whats-youre-going-to-listen-to.712969/

The safety protocols the CDC follows for Ebola are less complex than what this idiot does for "fun".

There is no reason whatsoever that choosing a song or album to play should be difficult. I just follow this simple equation and it works every time.

SHiTes -- making simple music decisions as complex as they possibly can.

SHiTes -- making simple music decisions as complex as they possibly can. Not to mention once the equation has told them which record to play they then need to decipher their filing systems, are solo acts filed next to the bands they’re in, is it alphabetical, chronological, date of purchase? Where the hell did I place that Monkees Party Hits album?!!

The idea of not listening to music mostly on a whim is so foreign to me. This is SHiTe sperginess of the highest order.

The idea of not listening to music mostly on a whim is so foreign to me. This is SHiTe sperginess of the highest order. For me, listening on a whim just turns into listening to the same small selection. A little over two years ago, I decided I should re-listen to everything in my collection. Just looking at my iTunes "last played" option, I'm surprised at all the stuff I genuinely like that I haven't played in years, and that I know I simply wouldn't think to play on a whim.

Steely Dan shootouts require years of careful planning. You can just let Tom Port do those for you. I mean, when you consider what it would have cost you to carefully plan and get the copies needed for s shootout, a $600 White Hot Triple Orgasm Tamper Stamper copy of Aja is an amazingly good deal. Especially if it's VG+++++ on one side.
