For authenticity, you don't want either one. He talks shit on the Brother Records pressing as being "too compressed", but mine sounds AMAZING.

Once, I took part in an audio shoutout that compared five or six different vinyl versions of Pet Sounds. The sources and the pressings were all somewhat different, but the thing about the DCC version is that the medium range was boosted. A lot boosted...

Is that the "breff of lyfe?" More like “the frown of frauds”.

I am not exactly au fait with the ins and outs of golden eardom. So what exactly is the difference between an audio shoutout and an audio shootout? Is it about microdynamics? It's all about the reverb trails. Or tails. Doesn't matter.

I hate myself for doing this because I'll never get my 30 minutes back. But Poulet en Noir is correct. I still have the original 1990 Capitol CD I bought on first release. The transfer is credited to Larry Walsh and Mark Linett, both reputable names in the biz. Just for shits and grins I downloaded the DCC. Fuck me. Daddy added some serious midrange on this piece of shit. The vocals - instead of resting in naturally with the music - jump out at you out of the mix. Totally fucks the soundstage. I didn't pay for Daddy's aberration. But in the knowledge that SHiTEville paid big bucks for it, I love the DCC.

You motherfuckers made me put this album on this morning. I got about half way through before I had to stop (and put on The Mummies as a palate cleanser, heh). Ok boy genius and all that but goddamn I forgot how cringey this album is. I don’t think emo at it’s sappiest is this bad. I first heard this when I was a socially awkward 13 year old and listening as an adult puts me right back there. No thank you.
What is a forum approved pressing? Do I not have the ears? Can someone help me get into Pet Sounds?

From: Things I've learned on Audiophile forums... dsf said: ↑ One audio phrase that I read a long time ago in some article was "liquid midrange". So what its going to sound like I'm listening underwater? "Haven't read this thread. What exactly is a liquid midrange? I have no idea. Can someone explain? Midrange capture is truly important to me. Having it liquid is something that I probably wouldn't want.." Steve Hoffman, Feb 9, 2020 But Steve,I thought WERE an audiophile with your fancy (and very expensive) hi-fi system?
