What a bunch of skeptics. Here's a cool diagram of one of Raven Vanguard's more ambitious designs.

This reminded me of how much I enjoyed "What We Do to get French Shadows 10 inch vinyls." FTFY That reminds me. I mentioned on the old forum that a friend of mine is a massive Shadows fan, and knows their worldwide catalogue inside-out. He said that no such records existed to his knowledge. He brought it up again recently. He thinks he knows the releases Huffy was talking about. Only two of his very specific facts don't match: 1. They were Dutch pressings, not French; and 2. They were 12" singles, not 10".

There's a whole slew of Shadows 10"s from France on Discogs. Is it something else? I have no idea of the backstory.

Hoffman claimed he bought 10" stereo EPs. I can't find anything fitting the description on Discogs. I admit I know next to nothing about The Shadows, but my friend is pretty reliable and not likely to make shit up to stir the pot.

10 inches LPs were indeed a popular format in the fifties and early sixties in France. Jacques Brel or Serge Gainsbourg originally released 10" albums, which were later augmented with contemporary tracks when 12 inches became the norm, as another popular format was 7" EPs with four songs on them.
The bullshit part of Steve's story is that a second hand record store owner in Nice in the eighties would gasp at seeing his name on his credit card, as Steve just had his name in small letters on a few MCA reissues (that was Marshall Blonstein who started to promote him a few years later as the greatest mastering engineer ever)... when he was actually credited. Nobody would make the connection with a guy who wants to buy a couple of Shadows French editions.

You’re right, especially as it was supposed to be American Express. No French record store would have had the imprinter with the carbon copy stuff to pay just for a couple of second hand records (even if they’re minty).

Nobody would make the connection with a guy who wants to buy a couple of Shadows French editions. I remember when he spun this corny bullshit story. Say we give Hoofy the benefit of doubt and he WAS at the record store in question. I’m thinking it went down like this: He comes through door and immediately the owner was thinking: “ I hope this blue shirt wearing, scuzzy muther fucker doesn’t try to walk off with my inventory.” Therefore, he watched him like a Hawk. He then gasped a sigh of relief, after sTeVe left the premises. (Empty handed of course..)

I'm kinda concerned about the lack of toe-in.
I think the one on the right is using the toe out method.
