Excuse me while I find my best leisure suit to go along with this living space.

This room has always made my skin crawl and now he's added some more "art." It's just so gross and cheap looking. This is the sort of guy who blings out his Dodge Ram with all that glittery shit from AutoZone. He’s uploaded a new picture giving you a better sense of space:

So, (in addition to the tv) he bought new speakers, new silver-colored components (to replace the black-colored stuff in the old picture), plus a new rack to hold everything (instead of the old wall installation)?
I never knew high-end audio components were so quick to wear out. (Or is he just a fucking fool who will replace all this stuff when the new models come out next year?)

I believe he is just a fucking fool who will replace all this stuff when the new models come out next year because he referred to the picture I posted as “One of my old beater systems.” A look through the thread shows this as his main system: …and this as an older set-up:

Tim 2's listening room looks like a found footage horror flick waiting to happen.

I see no balancing McIntosh L'il Analog Washing Machine on the right side. Fail. Jeezus. My amp has a little blue LED that's annoying enough I covered it up. Can't imagine trying to listen to music, let alone George Jones, with that ungodly lightshow of penile inadequacy.

Bright lights on the front of equipment is so distracting. I’ve taped up several things in the past. I did recently add some LED strips behind a record shelf and my equipment rack and I love them. I can cycle through a million color combinations and levels of brightness and they were like $12 on Amazon. Because they are behind the racks it mostly just makes the entire area lightly glow and not shoot piercing light into your eyeballs. I just leave them on a soft purple color for when I’m on the weed.

At least the tasteful artwork is the same.

This is what's hilarious about audiophilia. Upgrading has nothing to do with massive improvements in sound. It's simply they tire of the SAME sound and new gear gives them the illusion of "better". This is why I finally gave up on it. When I mentioned to my wife I wanted a new receiver after having the same one for 5 years she said "why? What's wrong with the one you have?", I couldn't give her a valid answer. And that's when I knew it was a stupid hobby.

Which boutique CD player actually had another, cheaper, player inside of it? That told me all I needed to know about those outfits. You can throw Oppo in there, for that matter, their "high end" players are ridiculously unreliable.

I have a Pioneer 610; region free, plays SACD and DVD-A. Passes DSD, as well.

It's funny you phrased it that way since the "boutique" Lexicon just threw an Oppo inside and charged an extra 3 grand or so.

Ha, I found a used Panasonic SL portable CD player on ebay for $5.99! I’m sure it sounds better than a dCS player at 10,000 times the price!
