I saw an interview with Elton John on BBC breakfast this morning (part of larger interview that will air this evening) and it took place in his listening room. He loves vinyl and his collection is impressive as one would expect. His turntable is quite humble for a man of his means - a Stanton St 150. I am of course not saying that he should have some huge monstrosity sitting there but it was kind of nice to see him 'keep it real', so to speak. I am not sure of his speakers but I am sure someone on here will be able to identify them.

When I saw the subject of the thread, I thought it might have been referring to his hairpiece.
But seriously, I like that he cares about his audio system quality. It made me shudder, in contrast, to see Herbie Hancock doing promotions for BOSE several years ago.

I imagine he’s a hand-on enthusiast who seem intensively involved in his listening choices, but I don’t know for sure.

Hard to imagine he'd do some research and think "I'll have to get a 500 dollar Technics clone'!

Elton needs to upgrade to a Technics lol. I do like the platter mat!

No disrespect to Elton or his gear, but I'd say he didn't even spend 10 minutes on this. It's hard to imagine that this is what he would ended up with after a real conversation with either his local hifi dealer or a personal assistant...."Hi Bob, this is E. Please pop round, take a look at my room, and bring me something great for piano and vocals. Keep it to $1ooK or so..."
With only the photos to go on, I would say he is one of our most gifted musicians, but not an audiophile in the sense of caring about sound quality at home
(I cannot access video--I hope someone can send a link--so please forgive the above if he's waxing poetic on the speakers or something)
