"Old folk" here refused to pay $3000 for a 335 so I spent $600 on the Epiphone version and it's just fine. These companies tried to sell to dentists and weekend yuppie wannabe rock stars and shot themselves in the ass.

I bought a 800 dollar Korean-made guitar and the neck is straight and the head stock won't pop off if you look at it funny. Let's see Gibson do that.

But I was never a big Gibson guy, I've always preferred Fenders. Gibson does make nice acoustics though.

Cool story, Harby...for what it's worth the Chinese knockoff Rickenbacker 4001 bass I bought myself last fall is probably a better instrument than the actual '66 Rickenbacker 4001 I used to own. Matter of fact, my Chickenbacker is probably the best bass I've ever owned period. What sanctimonious hypocrites like Harby fail to realize is, if the genuine articles weren't so fuckin' expensive in some cases we wouldn't have to resort to the cheap Chinese knockoffs in the first place.

Gutter oil and duck fat: the lubricant of champions.
