I’ve got no problem with Todd Rundgren, but most of his albums (I probably have them all) contain a small handful of really great songs and the rest is just self indulgent garbage. I’ve seriously never been able to make it all the way through his “masterpiece” Something/Anything despite having owned it since the 70’s.

These Ohio Toddfests are probably 30 fat losers at most, none under 50 and not a woman in sight, beating off to VHS Utopia bootlegs. The smell must be unbearable.

Hit mute if you must, but as I've mentioned before, is there any reason to think that "We're An American Band" wasn't recorded as simulated here, with the drummer playing a cowbell by the floor tom? Best case scenario, Turd doubled it. Big fucking deal. The marimba on "Love My Way" was devised by the Furs' touring keyboard player and the simple part was played by Turd probably through force of ego. I don't know the Meat Loaf song to comment on whatever motorcycle guitar is but I'm assuming it's the same easy whammy bar trick Mick Mars does on "Kickstart My Heart". Hoopy fuckin' doo.

What I’ve learned so far from this thread: Todd might be a musical genius but Steven Tyler is better at making babies! Two of Todd's sons were AAA baseball shortstops, and according to sportscaster Roy Firestone Rex had the goods to eventually make it to the majors. So why didn't he? Not asking in a snarky way - curious to know if something interfered (injury, etc.)... I'm not a baseball fan, but from what I understand there are only 30 potential shortstop openings, and it the men filling those tend to keep them for a long time. I know that Todd cancelled a fan meet & greet in Kansas City on the Liars tour to have dinner with Royals management to talk about Rex. Ultimately, Rex and his brother were like hundreds of other decent ballplayers who never had what it takes to make it to the "show." Randy is a baseball coach at a Cleveland high school. Not really. Players come and go from the minors to the majors all the time, and injuries open up slots. Possibilities vary dependent on the team that owns your rights. If you were a shortstop in the Yankees system from 1995 to 2014, you were in a tough spot because Derek Jeter held that position for 20 years. But that's an anomaly. Few teams have one position locked for long periods. I poked around and it looks like Rex had enough talent for a minor league career but not MLB. He just couldn't hit well enough for the Majors. Back in the 70s/80s, a light-hitting shortstop who played great defense could eke out a career, but with Cal Ripken and then others who did both, that perception changed. By the time Rex came along, it was tough for a light-hitting shortstop to get ahead. Based on his minor league stats, I see no evidence that Rex was MLB caliber. He had enough talent to stick around the minors for 10 years but there's nothing there to indicate that he was MLB quality... Fair enough. What I know about baseball could fit easily inside of a thimble and you wouldn't have to write particularly small. Roy Firestone said some complimentary things about Rex, but then again you'd have to be a real dick to say bad things about a man's son to his face. Agree. And I don't want it to sound like I'm saying Rex couldn't play - he achieved a level of baseball success that only an extreme minority could reach. I'm sure you've seen "Bull Durham", so even to get to AAA is a major accomplishment. But a look at Rex's stats show that he just couldn't hit anywhere close to well enough to reach the Majors. Maybe Firestone's comments were made when Rex was like 21 and it looked possible he could've made it to the Majors? He was regarded highly enough for Florida to take him in the 11th round of the 2001 draft! That's not exactly "sure thing" territory, but it's moderately high! This was back in 2010, so it was not early in his career. If you have Amazon Prime, due to a screw up, the two halves of the extensive Roy Firestone Todd interview are on Prime, wrongly identified as being the two album halves of the concert, Todd and Healing. I thought about letting them know, so they can put up the concerts, but not until I capture the interviews. Firestone is both a highly skilled professional interviewer, and a huge Todd fan. So he asked really intelligent, thoughtful questions that fans would want the answers to, but also knew what the more casual viewer would want to know.
