I’m going to posit that the above is truly the most stupid poat ever made. Denying factual evidence to suit your narrative of America being great…yeah that reminds me of someone.

This guy really is a grade-A fuckwit. A thread about songs that sound like they could be in a James Bond film:
Thunderman:
Yeah, cos James Bond is the first thing I think of when I hear this.

Shots fired! forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/zomg-torrent-plz-or-how-internet-music-trends-fade-away.888149/The smug love of physical media talking points in the first poat could kill you if you tried to play the standard SH.TV drinking game. Mbd77 said: "We all know how things have changed with regard to music in the past 30 years due to the internet. One of the things that changed was the ability to ‘instantly’ download music via Bit Torrent, FileZilla...what was the other one? Napster? I’m sure there were a lot of people, some on here maybe, who had no problem downloading MP3 off Bit Torrent sites of a group or musician’s entire back catalogue and creating their own cd-rs. It’s all about spreading the love, man. Music should be free, etc, etc... I used to hear that a lot. Obviously this had an effect on the music business, but it seems far less prevalent now than it did a few years ago. Cd-r seems to have died a very, very quick death. It still exists a bit in the ‘unofficial’ music world, where every audience recording or soundboard is expected to be available at the click of a button on a shout on a message board of “zOMG!, Torrent Plz!!!” every time a rare tape is sourced from a boot label in Japan or an old time hoarder who happened to mention that he has a tape...and people think that a download link will be there the second it’s released (or even before)....but even that’s changing. I’ve noticed a fair few new tapes or far-east releases simply not turning up on bit torrent sites or message boards, much to the confusion and dismay of the relentless button-push ‘collectors’. Who wants to go to the trouble of ripping a disc (how many even have a computer with a disc drive now?) or transferring a reel to reel to be leached with a half-hearted ‘thx’ from somebody you’ve never heard of? Anyway, back to the world of official releases, and the world outside of the internet which, it appears, still exists. We’re in October now, and the box sets are being lined up by the companies for Christmas sales. I know there’s a lot of streaming for various reasons, and people who no longer collect physical music, but there seems to be less people who are simply trying to get music for free via not-at-all-legal websites. I don’t imagine the new ‘Abbey Road’ set is too readily available on pirate sites, nor will the Hendrix multi-disc set. If you were to download it from such a site, would you REALLY have it? Is a copy as good or as satisfying as an original? Or have we moved on and away from the novelty of being able to instantly download copies of everything. Is this part of the appeal of box sets in recent years? I think there is something to be said for the ‘old days’....it’s not just nostalgia. There was a thrill in getting hold of a new record (or a Bootleg) that maybe required some effort to get hold of. Looking at the photos and reading the credits. I still remember the shop where I was 20 years ago when I purchased a particular cd or 30 years ago where I got a particular LP. Nobody remembers the day they opened their Bit Torrent client. Does anyone know what I’m on about?"

It’s one of those miserable old fucks getting furious that the Beach Boys copyright extension sets are not getting a physical release, for sure.

Did anyone other than a shite burn files onto a cd and then print the booklet etc.? That's insane, and yet many of them think downloaders turn everything into physical media.

I did that ten years ago when I was briefly without my own computer and unable to add shit to my ipod. All the discs I burned came out awful (either the cdrs themselves were bad or the disc burner was bad) and the artwork was just me handwriting the tracks and info. But I had to spend the summer with no internet, so it's not like I had anything better to do.
