Eh. Linda Ronstadt was no more and no less a cover artist. And, as far as I'm concerned, there is not one of her covers that isn't inferior to the original. That said, I'm always happy to see MikeM in a thread. He used to be able to close any discussion with 2-3 poats.

Yeah I don’t give two fucks about her. Was just surprised. I thought she was one of those masturbatory classic rock women that they drool over.
I think there’s one of her CDs in the house and my wife bought it. The one with Aaron Neville.

She seems like a good person but I hate everything I’ve heard by her other than “Different Drum.” All of her 70’s stuff is LA session man coke rock. And she’s indirectly responsible for the Eagles.

Linda Ronstadt is great.
Also, if some dickhead like Ghostworld commented on a woman's "curb appeal" it would end up in the misogynistic minute thread. And deservedly so.

Will Linda Ronstadt prove to be the Yoko Ono to SC’s Beatles and divide and drive us into an all knives out, last one standing at dawn scenario?

I’ve got eight Linda Ronstadt albums, which I bought at Amoeba in LA for a dollar apiece because I was (and still am) enamoured of LA’s musical history, and it seemed like a fun thing to do while I was there.
There are probably 12 songs across them all that are really phenomenal, including her versions of two of my favourite songs (The Miracles’ Ooh Baby Baby and the country standard Silver Threads & Golden Needles, but she also does a lame version of that on another of those albums).
The other 80-odd, not so much. Too many ballads, white-lady Motown covers, and she flat-out murders Alison by Elvis Costello.

There's a sig looking for a home. Whatever. I don't feel the need to hate/pretend to hate everything mainstream just because some some dickheads on SHF might like it. And I bet you don't either. Are you going to tell me you don't like anything shite-approved? Anything at all? I don't believe that. So yeah, I think Linda Ronstadt is great and you find that sig-worthy then by all means..knock yourself out.
