Steve was there, man. He came with his buddy John Oteri, ace teen reporter, who covered it for Assassination Scene magazine. “So we stationed ourselves by some windows in a book depository where we could have a great view. I couldn’t believe it, the PRESIDENT of the UNITED FREAKING STATES drove by and waved up at ME! A few moments laters we heard firecrackers go off, who would be setting those off above us? Later we found out someone shot JFK. A few days later I was with CBS News talking to the cameraman at the jail when they were bringing Oswald out and someone pushed me over and shot him - and there I was, holy shit he was shot! Years later I as going through the CBS radio archives and found the recording from that broadcast. I listened really close and could hear myself sigh on it - proof I was there. It was an honor to remaster those tapes for AF and release with my name on it, finally adding my name along with all the others who were there that day in Dallas.”

I need your help, folks. I was at my grandmother's, watching TV, and there was a deadringer for STeVE in some commercial. Stupidly I didn't take note of what it was. It was showing on the history channel. Was it this one? (DriveTime)

I always love how “Just because you believe something whole heartedly and passionately does not mean it is true.” is only ever tossed at people actually using facts and science and never ever the people of the “I don’t know why it works, but I hear a difference” variety.

So I'm working on a scam where I sell batteries that are charged with solar power. Solar power, you see, brings you pure untainted energy. That energy brings you unbelievable sound. Just plug your stereo in and drift away to audio nirvana. When the juice runs out, ship it back to me and I'll recharge it at my sonically neutral solar farm. 50k for the battery and 1k per recharge.

That sounds like pretty legit audiophile logic, and by legit I mean medieval. I think it could work.

In addition there are also the PureAudio tm Anus Incubation+ batteries that once fully charged at the equator are then inserted for up to twelve weeks in an audiophile's anus. Special anal sweat that is only produced by golden eared audiophiles is absorbed deep within the batteries' cells to produce an unsurpassed sense of realism, better stereo separation and a rich analogue tube like sound. Batteries are currently being incubated by Steve Hoffman, Kevin Gray and Michael Fremer. An extra large 9v battery "The Bob" is available on special order and are incubated in the enormous anal canals of Bob Levi Bob can easily have 20 of these in incubation at any one time

So that's the infamous Bob Levi? I guess I should not be surprised to learn that the sole criterion for becoming the chairman of an audiophool society is that the fattest man gets the job. Pretty sure he said to give him the job or he would sit on who denied it to him.

Methinks Bob needs to be less concerned with tonmeisters and be more concerned with stairmeisters...

Unless he's three feet tall, that's one high waistband.

I agree that watching (and learning just what these guys listen for and change) while mastering, is something that I could also watch for hours. About five years ago my wife had to fly to L.A. for work and I tagged along with nothing to do all day, except shop for music (Amoeba, etc.) and I asked Steve Hoffman if I could stop by Stephen Marsh's mastering room, which was right down the street from our hotel (Lowe's of Hollywood). Sadly, Steve cancelled on me last minute, which was a huge disappointment as I was so excited to take in a few hours of watching the man at work. Maybe next time my wife and I head out to Sonoma wine country, I'll ask Rob LoVarde if I can drop by Mobile Fidelity and look over his shoulder for an hour?

I might feel a tad more sympathy for Bob if the cunt was literate.
