Suppose, if you had a full-time job at STERLING SOUND like your former protegee Joe Nino-Hernes and weren't so busy prostituting your infants to the machine, would you still hang out with us mortals on the best place on the WWW (your forum)?
Also, since you are one of the great movers and shaker in the biz from EL LAY, could you tell us a bit more about that time you hung out JOHN LENNON? To refresh your memory, go here, here and ehm... here.
Can't see the last one. Is that where he says he NEVER met Lennon?
Yep! "Elvis bought my mom's best friend's house for his secretary in 1963. I was just a kid but I met him! He was so nice. Never met John Lennon, sad to say."
For what it's worth, Flat Transfer's first link was from 2003. The second is from 2004. The third, where Steve admitted he'd never met Lennon was from 2013.
I'm inclined to think that Steve never met John Lennon...I highly doubt Paul McCartney stopped by Steve's house to hear the DCC Wings At The Speed Of Sound, either.
How does it feel knowing that you will never ever remaster the Beatles? Sucks, doesn't it? Doesn't it, STeVE-o?
But you see he "almost" got the Stones and Bowie. So very close. And it would've been neat.
"Almost got the Stones catalog for Gold CD though. That would have been neat. J. Klein was interested but it got too crazy."
"Was that for DCC or Audio Fidelity? Those would have sold by the bucket loads."
"That was for DCC. We wanted AFTERMATH, BUTTONS, SMR, BB, LIB and we were very close. What happened was a legal quagmire that the bosses didn't want to deal with. Almost got the BOWIE catalog for one million but we didn't have one million sitting around so Ryko got it."
