Who else here hates Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl?I can not stand the Foos, they're a bland radio-catering, ego-filled, arena-rock-show-attending joke. They're the closest thing that this generation has to that Hair Metal sh-t from the '80s, I'm coming from a place of Punk, D.I.Y Rock. Music should come from somewhere pure, a place with passion and honesty. It doesn't matter how bad it is, I can still like or appreciate it for it's sincerity. That music is for the outsider to speak their mind, it was never intended for the cool kids like the frat boy jocks and glamour-gluttonous girls. It alienates them in the same way they alienate us. It's true to who we are. Dave once had that spark of passion, I actually love the first Foos album, it had a raw static-driven sound and was Dave's most sincere and ambitious work. Dave afterwards had become a cheesy Alt Radio rocker with no true passion for anything but his image and the money. Nothing they have done afterwards is real and don't even try to say it is. Dave clearly loves his place as the "only living Rock Star", he's like Bob Seger or Gene Simmons: a loudmouthed, cheesed-cked, overconfidently deficient in the head rock star parody. He struts around onstage shouting stupid Rock 'n Roll catchphrases while pretending as if anyone gives a flying **** about his roadtrip stories and pulled pork stands. He and the Foo Fighters are the very definition of Dad Rock. Their newest defecation onto the face of Rock music, aside from Play which was good but I have a problem with that too, had come to us in the form of their worst album, Concrete and Gold. Either Dave thought he had this genius idea or he was so incompetent that he didn't realize that working with a Pop producer and several Pop stars wouldn't produce a heavy and abrasive album. I vote the latter. Seriously, he kept insisting that it was going to "rock our motherf--ing socks off" but it just makes me feel like I turned on the radio and listened to the Top 40 Hits. "Play" is a pretty decent song but just like Sonic Highways, it was just a way for Dave to stroke his inflated ego and show off. He sure loves to put on this more-humbled-than-thou ****show on for the camera. Everytime there's even a sliver of integrity and sometimes even good music, The Foo F--kers have to come in with their melancholy faces and inspirational song. He turns everything with probity, beauty band heart into something about himself! I hate him, he should have stuck to drumming... Better than Yoko Ono IMO.

It's a shame it wasn't Grohl who blew his head off instead of KC, just like it's a shame MDC shot Lennon instead of Maccunt

I don't like them either and I don't even come from a place of Punk passion and honesty, probity, or beauty band heart.

I don’t care for them but I don’t hate them. I also don’t feel the need to write some rambling poat on why I do or don’t. That is the issue with 99.9% of those mother fuckers in Hoofyville, the actually think someone gives a fuck. Sad part is it almost always stirs up shit and then turns into a pissing match with the one who donates the most being free to say and name call all they want while the other is subjected to silence.

On another music forum I frequent is a long-running thread called The Dave Grohl Problem. You're not alone.

I dunno. I get what DefecatedUmbilical is saying but he doesn't have to be so passionate about it. Yeah Grohl is kind of a smarmy full-of-himself type, but who cares. Lots of rock stars are assholes. Guy in my band loves the Foos and wants to do some of their stuff but none of it appeals to me enough to bother learning it.

I don't adore them, but I paid money to see them and was very entertained.
What I like about them is that they get SHiTEs furious for some reason.

That first album is really quite great. Once they became a real band they didn't do much for me, but I see why people enjoy them. And from everything I hear, Grohl is a true mensch.
Sorry, but I have plenty of other things to get worked up about.

The first two albums for me, and lots of other songs. They're kind of Product now, but they give folks their money's worth live.
And any band with Pat Smear has some punk cachet, I think.
