About 10 years ago, I was in a used CD shop and saw a copy of the 3-disc Japanese mini-LP of Wings Over America. Feeling nostalgic, I bought it – but likely played it only once or twice. (No buyer’s remorse though. The cool little details the Japanese manufacturers put into mini-LPs tend to prevent that, AFAIC.) Never bothered with the archive reissue though. (WOA was the first “super deluxe” I passed on, and after realizing I didn’t miss it, stopped buying all the subsequent ones.) I've personally never heard it, but from what I've read, that mini-LP the you bought was the first time that the album was remastered, and it was supposedly better than any previous issue. I've always assumed that it should roughly equal the archive edition in sound quality (which is also an improvement on the original CD).
Being in the US, I was able to skip the super deluxe and still get the bonus disc as there was a cheap version via Best Buy. (Back when I living in a different neighborhood, Best Buy seemed to take issue with my address. They refused to ship to it the way I entered it, and if I entered it the way they suggested, it would ultimately get held by the Post Office, so I used to ship those orders to my dad's house. No other website ever gave me that issue.)

I cannot believe this thread is still going. I don't give a rat's ass what the guy who remixed the White Album says. It's Ringo, 100%. The bridge beat is so Ringo it's not funny. And the two handed triplets, again, Ringo.

It's got Bernard Purdie written all over it.

All this back and forth banter about who is drumming and no one has yet pointed out what a shitty, inconsequential song it is in the first place. It's one of my favourite.

You’ve made me listen to it again. It’s so obviously Ringo. Haven’t ever heard Paul drum with that much energy, or accuracy.

When I listened to the Get Back sessions again recently, it was incredibly obvious when Paul was behind the kit. He'd play the same basic beat and without any of the finesse that Ringo possesses.

It's the same crowd that spent months debating who did the aahhs on Day in the Life.

I think it's the best record they ever made. It's the only thing from after the White Album that I'd choose to listen to.

“Old Brown Shoe” and “Lady Madonna” were the two songs on the Hey Jude LP that would likely get my butt off the sofa to move the needle away from.

I listen to Rush (usually a concert recording) at least a couple times a week...haven't listened to a fuckin' Beatles record in months, damn close to a year now, actually (live McCartney or Harrison are the exceptions). Can't say that I miss them because Hoffman's fucking forum has just about killed any appeal The Beatles ever had for me.

I actually like "Old Brown Shoe," probably because it's the one late-Beatles Harrison song that's not a bunch of self-righteous mewling about the physical world.

Who is this zipp moron making an already idiotic thread about the drums on "Old Brown Shoe" even dumber with his claim that Ringo couldn't have played on it due to bad London traffic and not having a cellphone in 1969? Jesus Christ.
