Christ. I watched something like Kiss in Vegas from 2016, and it was a tragedy. I give them props for being able to produce music dumber than Slade (and Slade were masters at that, which is a good thing), but it'll be a whimper, not a bang, when Paul and Gene and the other two hang up their lip-sync roadshow.

If I knew in 1977 that KISS would still be an affliction upon the human race today, I may not have made it to 1978.
However, if further proof is required that just because something is popular does not mean it's good then why not someone like Donald Trump for president?
Maybe Gene Simmons runs.
In makeup.

Oh, Slade was a hell of a lot smarter than Kiss could ever dream of being. They made a film in 1975 called Slade in Flame, which is surprisingly fantastic, one of the great lost minor classics of 1970s British cinema. The entire thing is up on youtube, or at least it was a year ago. Seek it out, even if you are not a fan. It is amazingly downbeat and grim — exactly what their fans probably didn't want to see. It is worth it alone for the Black Country location shots. No argument from me - Slade up to about 1977 are pretty fucking excellent, and Slade In Flame is a really good film. What I meant was that it takes skill to be dumb; to write songs that are as appealing to hooligans and skins as to teenage girls, and Slade mastered that art. Kiss tried to do it, and occasionally got it right musically (my impression is that even the most stereotypical football jock would shed a tear at Beth) but they took it a step further and built an industry out of parting fans with their money on their merchandise as much as their music.

I am surprised that some of those who've been exposed as sex pests through #MeToo haven't yet milked their notoriety and simply declared that fuck it, I'm a sexual predator but I'm being honest about it, then emphasise how important honesty is as an American trait, and how they're now on the moral high ground for being so open and honest. Get the Honesty Movement trending in Middle America (who'd rather side with the honest white guys than those whorish sluts who tempted these men into sin), then ride the wave of redemption into the White House. Gene would be a perfect candidate for this.

Gene Simmons will, mark my words, never be elected president.
He wasn’t born an American citizen, so he can’t run.

Stop being so eloquent and poignant, Exile... I don't have any tissues handy! Confucius say "Man who own many tissues ... not come in handy."

This is the way they all talk. They all want to be 6-years old again. I'm no psychologist, but I am fascinated by how nearly uniform this is among SHites. There are many people who wish they were 25 again or 18 again or even 16 again, and that is bad enough in all cases. But these guys take it to the extreme.
A real psychologist might want to explore the correlation between audiophilia and infantilism. How lifetimes are spent collecting the artifacts of early youth, in a sad and fultile attempt to preserve things as they were; to stop the march of time. The more the world changes, the more resentful they become. Since childhood, they have lacked some little part of the brain that helps people navigate life. So the ideal is to get back to the time when there was no life, only an extension of mama's womb. KISStards, Beatards, vinytltards, it all ties in...

Antiram makes a good point. It reminds me of my 20th class reunion last year. It amazed me at how many people talked about how high school years were the best years of their lives and they do anything to keep that feeling going. The best years of my life have yet to happen.

Not sure how I'd feel about my life being arrested in my teenage (or younger) years. That's pretty fucking sad.

I often think that in the same way Reagan misinterpreted Born In The USA, a large swathe of SHiTE-minded folks took Glory Days as carte-blanche to crywank over their high school days forever.
