I would say the countless historical and rare recordings that were issued on CD and never on vinyl (and likely never will be on vinyl) are cool. Don't assume that I don't enjoy vinyl, as I have over 100,000 LPs. But CDs were far better for the historical issues and comprehensive box sets. Take a Bear Family box set, for example. Maybe a 12 CD edition. We are not going to get a 24 LP set. If they made one, they'd charge over $500 for it, and everyone would groan about every flaw.

100,000? Where in the hell do you store them. Insanity. How does one accumulate that many over the years and justify the cost? I know there are some crazy fuckers over there but this is extreme even for the rank and file SHite heads.

So many albums that will never be played. Another hoarder. And proud of it.

Tribute is a kooky dude. Harmless though, aside from sometimes veering helplessly off topic. Some of his poats though are probably to get a rise out of Richard-W, who is a pain in the ass (I dare you to see how many times he insisted Sony release a CD brick of the 1965 Dylan concerts that were given as downloads).

I started owning my own music (mostly gifts from older siblings) at age 9. If I bought or got gifted one album every day for the 46 years since that’s 108,000.

100,000 records? I bet 40,000 minimum are solid trash.

Are there actually 60000 albums worth owning?

Are you kidding? Hell, Savoy Brown alone has over 40 essential albums.

Tribute is just a pathological liar, the jazz equivalent of STEVe. An old man that has an anecdote for nearly everything jazz related that gets poated there.

I seriously wish that Bear Family would market proper custom size protective bags for their boxes. They really should provide them with the box itself. The construction and paper quality of most of their outer boxes is not very strong and easily damaged or scuffed. You will be delighted to hear that for the upcoming Bakersfield set they're using heavier cardboard for the box. (As for protective bags – no-one here wants even more plastic in their lives. And the Bear boxes are designed to look good with wear and tear. Designed for repeated listening indeed.) if you dispose of nplartic in solid waste, true but any collector, of just about anything, knows that protecting condition of fragile paper items is important. mylar covers are essential for book dust jackets, just as protective sleeves are essential to preserve Bear Family outer boxes. I have seen plenty of seriously worn and scuffed BF boxes, and those with torn corners. they do not look good, and that is why their value is a small fraction of boxes in excellent condition. that's just the way it is. Everyone can do what they want of course, but no book lover would put plastic over a dust jacket (the dust jacket actually IS the protection of the book!). Put them on decent shelves in a dry place, and they're OK. It's a different story if you're only concerned in the market value for a re-sale. Virtually ALL book lovers and collectors put mylar archival dustjacket protectors over their book DJ's, unless they have no idea in the world where to get them (try a book shop). It isn't about re-sale value, it is about preserving historical artifacts. Older DJ's tear and fray on handling. Dust jackets were not designed to protect books, as they are far less durable than the book binding. They were designed for advertising display.

Just what it is with SHiTes and wanting to create a one man museum or archive. Don't they know it will all get burnt when they finally pop off this mortal coil. I found a similar pillock who is building his own totally pointless retro game museum.

Reminds me of all the hoarders they visit on American Pickers who are just accumulating mountains of trash for someone else to clean up eventually. Ever notice how all these types look miserable as well?
