These fucking morons literally suck every ounce of joy out of music listening. These days most of my listening is done at work, Apple Music via an iPhone to a pair of Etymotic ER4 IEMs. The rest is in the car to and from work. I couldn't be happier.

Absolutely. I have a pair of the newer ER4-XR, with a lower impedance and a boost in the bass response (not boomy, just to fill in what was arguably missing before). The sound is sublime.

I am usually given the odd record collection, and while I have a decent amount, I can't fathom having that many. They would never fit in even an average size house.
That said, my brother's neighbor gave me a friend's collection on Sunday. Probably about 50 or so. Most will get sold, so it's all profit. But the crown jewel of the box was a copy of Old Wave by our boy Ringo. I like the Beatles. I like some of their solo stuff. But my God...if I get 50 cents for that, I'll be shocked.
It's a dorky hobby, but I could have worse ones.

Wow, thanks guys. I had no idea. Time to go hit up MYKE or Jeatles. I have to go check COLA's Hoofy approved vinyl grading system. Better than groovy but not quite minty.

Check the matrix numbers to see if you have a HOT STAMPER.

Now is the time for a Bradman “see if it fits in your ass” post.

I also worry about my hearing and avoid headphones. Etymotic should make me a hearing aid that also pumps in music from my phone.
My living room setup is a laptop connected via usb to powered monitors. And I have a Bluetooth portable for the vast majority of the time I'm not planted on the couch. It's hard to imagine why this isn't sufficient for everyone in 2021.

Isn't Old Wave the album Ringo made and no one in the U.S. would distribute? I suppose today that makes it a desirable collectible. Hopefully there will one day be a Record Store Day repress to satisfy the public's Old Wave needs.
Even George Harrison had no trouble finding a distributor for his horrible records. And Harrison was the only Beatle to fail to record enough listenable solo material to fill out a mid-70s best-of for Capitol.

But for what it's worth, it's far better than Ringo The 4th which has been reissued in various colors. Produced by Joe Walsh entirely by Joe Walsh, unlike the previous album which was produced by a variety of friends and Beatles in spurts of mini-sessions (with varying results).

I've never listened to Old Wave, so I certainly won't pan it unheard. There's no reason to suppose it's an unusually bad Ringo album. And in a world where numerous mediocre recordings were pressed on disc with expectation to sell, why not Ringo's? He was a Beatle, for fuck's sake. It doesn't hurt it was produced by the guy the Eagles hired to have one member without a complete shit personality and could actually play the guitar.
