Most modern music fans are cross-genre fans. They might WANT to see Jay-Z AND Greta Van Fleet AND maybe even David Crosby- if they've heard of him. They might even say he's Americana and like what he's doing. Most modern music fans don't even know what an ALBUM is...and I don't mean record album. They know "songs". They could give two craps about Tommy or The Yes Album or The River, etc... What does your reply have to do with my post? I was saying the lineup was pretty diverse, and most younger music fans like different genres. Sounds like you don't like my response, hehe. It's not on the current young music fans who are really clueless about music. As I said they know "songs" and not "albums". It's tunnel vision and that has a lot to do with your post. You aren't making any sense. I said nothing about "albums", songs, or Yes, or "Tommy". You're missing the point. Must be a millennial... No- I'm 54. Tell me, what IS your point as related to my post? My apologies. Just didn't want to be trying to make a point to someone who wouldn't understand. My point is that majority of the young fans don't get music in the broadspectrum because they narrow their choices down solely to "songs" rather than exposing themselves to a wealth of other music a la album tracks that just may be better than what is on mainstream radio. As an audience they and who they listen to aren't worth my time for a Woodstock 50 show.

If those foolish Millennials can't sit through "The Clap," they'll never have a keen ear for good back porch country pickin'!

I pity the dumbfuck millennials that will never know the joy of "Miracle Cure," "Tommy Can You Hear Me" or "Tommy's Holiday Camp."

I like Jackoff74s dismissive “you must be a millennial” when the OP dares to ask him how what he’s saying is relevant to his point. And he still doesn’t have an answer. Typical SHite looking for an excuse to flog a straw man.

It’s a shame kids today listen to songs and not albums unlike myself who had stacks of 45s as a kid.

And why is there any need in 2019 to "sit through" (i.e., endure) an entire album? 999 out of 1,000 don't stand up to 45 minutes of uninterrupted attention.

The labels did a cracking job marketing rock LPs. They convinced every pseudo-intellectual music fan that profound artistic messages can only be conveyed over 44 minutes of playback.

That’s really it. The “album” is a rock era construct which happened so they could sell you a larger container of songs. If anything, the return to ala carte songs only picking is in line with the entire history of music except for that blip.

Jazz marketed albums as well. And just to spite everyone, I'm listening to Tommy today, on SackDee, no less. Will I skip Acid Queen, or Fiddle About? I'm not telling.

I'll go you one better and listen to the Tommy soundtrack, with Ann-Margret and Jack Nicholson offering their fiery duet version of Go To The Mirror.

I recently picked up a DVD of the Tommy film, not having seen it in years 'n' years. It was just as bad as I remembered it.
I do like the Who's album, even Acid Queen and Fiddle About. I can do without Tommy's Holiday Camp though.

A Hard Day's Night holds up beautifully, but the rest of their movies are pure shit.
