Something bigger. Fuck off. A remix and a bunch of alternate takes is what you'll get. There's nothing else! Fuck this guy, seriously.

BUt Mike Carrerrerrerra hasn't heard anything! Surely Paul and Apple and the ghost of Neil Asprinol would have told him about an Abbey Road set. Does this mean it isn't happening? ?

There will not be a remix of Abbey Road.

It probably deserves its own thread but what would constitute a BIG release... or a release BIGGER than a 50th Abbey Road? I can't imagine another mass-marketed Greatest Hits, Best Of , or expanded 1 as being such a release. Would an expanded 1, or some sort of a Best Of that includes Free As A Bird, Real Love and yes, Now & Then be enough of a pull for the masses? I've always envisioned Now & Then being included as the "prize" on an expanded Anthology release, but who knows? How about a SOLO Best of compendium? An EP with a track by each solo member was released digitally a few years back. Even this would hardly compare to a multi-disc Abbey Road @50. Guess I'm saying it seems rather unlikely that anything could supplant such a release. What say you my fellow Beatleholics? Ron No official announcement until 7-8 weeks before release. This is Apple's mantra. Meaning an Abbey Road box won't be announced until late July or even early August. I'm not convinced that a 26 September 2019 is THE date for release either. Meaning, of course we'll get hear nothing official for another 2 months. If there's a second project in the can and ready to go, one would assume (I know, I know) it will be a 4th quarter release and we'll likely hear about that one AFTER Abbey Road. We should all know this by now, but we get sort of crazed awaiting anything new. Ron PS @mikecarrera is a wonderful source. He doesn't work for the camp, but is trusted by them. Apple's latest bout of secrecy could be for any number of reasons. Maybe Olivia recently found some demos in the proverbial dusty cupboards at Friar Park? Or Yoko discovered John's composing tapes for Come Together inside an old guitar case? Maybe some last minute rehearsals were found on mis-labeled reels? It could be anything. It wouldn't be shocking to find out that they didn't like details coming out before their announcement last year and are holding everything even tighter to their vests. Who knows? Time to chill and get back to wishes and desires for an Abbey Road @50 set.

Do they give a shit at all so long as they get their sales? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how prickish they are. But ol BrainSalad would have no idea.

Something like this could be interesting, and for sure ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE is great branding potential for a box set (especially if there's a demo or studio outtake of that song that's good and never before heard!) but if they do it, they better not just slap the existing songs together in remix form. They should dig deep into the summer of '67 jams that have never been released and pull at least a few minutes of some instrumental stuff from, that as well as all the instrumental stuff from the MMT film that's not on CD/Vinyl, and of course "Carnival of Light" as a bonus track. In this way you're sort of creating the full-length psychedelic sequel to Pepper that never was made. What about this track list? ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE (2LP) Side A 1. All You Need is Love 2. Hello Goodbye 3. Only a Northern Song 4. Baby You're a Rich Man 5. The Fool on the Hill 6. Jessie's Dream Side B 7. Strawberry Fields Forever 8. Flying 9. I Am The Walrus 10. Blue Jay Way 11. All Together Now 12. Untitled Jam (June 1, 1967) Side C 13. Magical Mystery Tour 14. Penny Lane 15. Hey Bulldog 16. Lady Madonna 17. It's All Too Much 18. Shirley's Wild Accordion Side D 19. Across the Universe (Ultimate 1968 mix - Anthology 2 remixed) 20. Your Mother Should Know 21. Christmas Time Is Here Again (1995 mix) 22. The Inner Light 23. Carnival of Light (4-minute edit) I don't know, but Apple set precedent with editing down the long legendary "Helter Skelter" not once but twice now. I could easily see Apple/Giles cutting "Carnival of Light" down to 4-5 minutes, taking the best most interesting parts of the 12+ minute recording, particularly if Yoko and Olivia still think or hold to the idea that the full CoL is indulgent or too weird, an edit would be the compromise that at least gets part of it out there. Just to clarify: My comment about the autographed London Town was meant as a joke.

So the latest order of the day is to create another Sgt Pepper out of their studio toenail clippings?
How long until they want a compilation of witty John/Paul studio banter in the style of Having Fun On Stage With Elvis?

It won't sound as good as my needledrop of the acetate, especially if they let that hack Giles Martin touch it. Steven Wilson or no sale.

Who knows, indeed? Certainly not brainsquashed. The guy is a wanker:
Looks like a just a few naysayers to my eyes. No one knows for sure. Rumors have been kept quiet. And as we all SHOULD know, no official announcement until the end of JULY at the earliest. Now we come to the first week of June and some start getting nervous? Not sure why. It really makes zero sense for Apple/Universal to stop the 50th Anniversary series. Abbey Road is probably their most popular catalog album through the last 20 years or so. The various vinyl configurations inevitably make it back on the Charts... not so for the others, except 1 of course. Ron
PS It also makes no sense to tie Abbey Road and Let It Be together into one massive 1969 set. The later has a wealth of possible material, both audio and video. A merging makes less sense than not releasing Abbey Road @50... and I already said that makes ZERO sense.
What a cunt.

From Wogblog: The upcoming multi-media tour by historian/author Mark Lewisohn will include audio and video even "super fans" didn't know existed. Hype? Possibly, but Apple wouldn't allow Lewisohn to use unreleased audio and video, especially previously unknown/unreleased material, without their expressed consent if something wasn't happening. Ron Most Beatle unused Beatle recordings and footage is out of copyright now and since he is not selling it but just showing it, he does not need a licence. Surely not any 1969 footage or audio, which one would expect to hear and see on an Abbey Road (the album) retrospective. Ron PS I don't think Mark would use out-of-copyright material either. Or would even embark on such shows without at least tacit approval by Apple and Universal. Just an opinion. I guess we'll know sooner than later if it's marketing hyperbole, or if Mark has been given access to material that might show up on the upcoming box. What that could be is anyone's guess. Home demos? Rehearsals? The long-lost group version of Come And Get It;) Ron WE DON'T KNOW!!! Like I said, it could be advertising hyperbole, or a clue on what's to come. I don't think interviews would constitute anything that "super fans" didn't know existed. Not to mention the article specifically mentioned audio and video. I don't think even "lost" interviews would amaze the fans. Might be fun, but that's about it. If Mark tries playing standard bootleg stuff, or things no longer in copyright, the attendees will call him out... right then and there. Not to mention, to keep things all tidy and legal, Universal/Apple would have to give their approval to present master tapes and video. Does anyone think Mark will "do his own thing" and play unreleased audio or video without approval? He has two more books in the pipeline. I can't imagine him going rogue now. Ron
