Giles already remixed "Something," "Here Comes the Sun" and "Come Together" for LOVE, so there's really nothing stopping him from remixing it for a 50th Anniversary box, especially when Jeff Jones and the Apple chairs all hire him to do so. Plus his past comments hint strongly that he was remixing strings on "Golden Slumbers." This AR50 box won't be as big as the White Album box of course, but I think we are in for 3 CDs and a Blu-ray. CD1 - New REMIX of the original album CD2 - "Ballad" and "Old Brown Shoe" outtakes + maybe George home demo or two + maybe John's acoustic "Because" + early AR Sessions (Feb sessions for Something and I Want You, and the Summer sessions before John returned) CD3 - The Bulk of the AR Sessions w/John + a few Elements mixes + "Come and Get It" and last track is a "You Know My Name" outtake. BR - All of the above in hi-res + original stereo mix

Alleged tracklist has been posted: "Did "our insiders" get scooped? Time will tell". Fucking right they have if the majority of the tracks are correct. Old Ron,maccawings and mike Carrera are probably a bit pissed that somebody may have stole their "insider" thunder.....

The "insiders" have shut up since they got scooped by a "non-insider". I fucking love it.

Brilliant. Though that's a highly uninteresting tracklist.
Also, why are they all banging on about hearing Her Majesty back in its originally-intended position in the medley? One of the earliest things I did when getting some audio editing software 20-odd years ago was slotting it back in after Mean Mr Mustard, and it took about a minute to get it right. Are they all really so dumb that they haven't tried this?

I just saw the tracklist. It doesn't look awful, but there are omissions. No oldies session? Only Ain't She Sweet has been released, the other two haven't been heard at all. And no long version of Something? Even the version on bootlegs with the long coda was already an edit. And it's a basic version with John's mashing piano present throughout (it was virtually mixed out of the album version, save for a few very brief appearances.) And unlike Revolution take 20, this Something doesn't circulate in great quality. I was kinda hoping for alternate mixes of George's demos too. Of course, mixes with other overdubs circulate in pretty good quality on bootleg, except for the Something demo with piano which is sourced from acetate... and that seems to be what we're getting here.
The good news? Take 36 of You Never Give Me Your Money. That's one of my favorite bootlegs. And an outtake of She Came In Through The Bathroom Window. As much as the song works as a part of the medley, I think it could have been done as a standalone number. Even the "Get Back" versions were good. How they managed to completely ignore the best version but tried to stick that awful version of Teddy Boy on the Get Back album is beyond me. Then they gave Bathroom Window (along with Something and Let It Be) to Joe Cocker. Cocker covered the Get Back arrangement of it, although it didn't come out until after Abbey Road.

Hmm. Assuming the leaked contents for AR@50 is correct and complete, call me a bit underwhelmed. Not a single uncirculated demo? No session busks or rehearsals? Goodbye? Actually quite happy to have that one, but no remixed Come And Get It? Seems odd. Can't wait to hear the decision-making regarding these two songs. I'm guessing the Who Slapped John/Be Bop A Lula busk was not as good as Lewisohn thought. Don't get me wrong, I'll love listening to anything previously unreleased, but this one seems a bit rushed. Certainly compared to the WA@50 set which had many surprises. Oh well, we gladly except the offer Apple/Universal! Ron Thankfully, I don't listen to circulating demos, for the most part, so this box will be 90% new/unheard to me. I also don't see the correlation between "not what you hoped" and "seems a bit rushed." I think they've done an excellent job on the other 50th sets with regards to outtakes. I have no reason to believe this will be any different. I'm just surprised that there's nothing unheard or unknown included... like the Let It Be and Baby, I Don't Care snippet on WA. Not a HUGE problem, just a bit underwhelming. I think it seems a bit rushed because nothing was added outside of the album sessions, except for Goodbye. Not even Come And Get It. We KNOW that the archives had busks of Games People Play (from the Oh Darling session) and the previously mentioned Who Slapped John/Be Bop A Lula run through. Including little things like this would show that the crew delved deep(er) into the tapes, IMO. Again, I'll be thrilled hearing all the outtakes, just wish there were a few surprises thrown in. And who knows? Maybe there will be? Ron

But hey, Ron’s not bitter at all that he knows absolutely fuck-all and was beaten to the punch by some rando from Moscow.
You can almost hear the gritted teeth when he mentions ‘carrying the torch’.

Imagine being a phony insider is a major part of your self-worth. And then imagine that being nuked from orbit. Someone might want to check on those guys after a while.
