Are any of you curious about sewerdog's choices? Of course you aren't; I'm worried that his shift key doesn't seem to work anymore. Fuck these morons.

Geez if you visit the Hall of Fame in Cleveland it will likely be a disappointment. The Musicians Hall of Fame by the late Joe Chambers in Nashville is more worthwhile, IMO

Geez if you visit the Hall of Fame in Cleveland it will likely be a disappointment. I'll say. I went once a few years ago. Started on the top floor and worked down. Kept wondering when it was going to get interesting. Finally on the lowest floor they had some semi-interesting items like a few of Jimi's outfits and the suit Prince wore at his induction, but overall it was an incredibly underwhelming experience.

Yep. Someone smarter than me can probably explain it but sports halls of fame seem far more interesting. Maybe because they capture moments in time better. We went to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and seeing the Big Red Machine’s lineup represented by jerseys on stands (Christ what a lineup) gave me more chills than seeing John Cipollina’s guitar amp.

I passed the exit on the way to somewhere else and had plenty of time, but I decided, "Fuck it." I enjoy going to musical places with genuine history, like Motown and Sun and even Graceland, but the Hall's just some building to me. My opinion!

We took our daughter last summer because she wanted to go see it. She enjoyed it so that made me happy, but it was pretty much the same stuff that was there the last time I was there - over 20 years before. I’m good for another 20 years before I return.
Even now I look to see who the nominees are, who makes it, watch the induction of those who interest me and move on. Probably the only part of the entire HOF I enjoy is watching a bunch of SHiTes meltdown over it every year.

Sounds like Hard Rock Cafe. (While I’ve visited a few HRCs, the only time I ever got excited about any of the memorabilia was about 20 years ago in Tijuana. That location had a display of nice cels from Yellow Submarine. The vibrant colors and fine details were so much more striking than what’s seen on home video.)

That's what cracks me up about the "rock" purists. They aren't asking about the Buzzcocks, Siouxsee, Can, Joy Division, etc (just one person's random handful of groups with sounds that endured); placing Foreigner over Tribe or Rakim because it's "rock," but it's not the Hall of Mediocre Trend Followers. Gosh yes, of all the rock bands they could nominate, they chose Foreigner.

Nominees will simply be pulled to fit a template from now on. A few traditional rock acts with one being on the heavy side to appeal to the shitey types and metal people. A few hip-hop artists. A few pop icons to have the rockers up in arms. A few artists who are back in the light from either death or meme culture. Maybe the occasional alt/indie artist who should’ve been in a decade or two ago, etc.
