Don't worry. It will be released on Early Takes Volume 2, due out in maybe 2043, to mark George's 100th birthday. ArnieArnold Grove said:
Definitely great ideas, but I'm just hoping to get an Early Takes Vol 2 by 2016.Arnold Grove said:
Still, the fact that we haven't had an Early Takes Volume 2 speaks volumes about the possible release status of any of George's archives --- it is NONEXISTENT.Arnold Grove said:
How about we average 5 and 15, and call it 10? Therefore, I'll expect Early Takes Volume 2 in 2022, which would be 10 years after Volume 1. Arnold Grove said:
Coming Soon: Paul McCartney's Archive edition of Flowers In The Dirt with a bonus disc of George Harrison's Early Takes Volume 2... Arnold Grove said:
Too soon. Volume 1 of Early Takes came out in 2012. It's too soon to go with Volume 2 in 2016. They don't want to overburden the buying public after all. For me, I still haven't fully delved enough into the 10 songs (10 songs, again; that's right, 10!!!) on Volume 1, so no way can I handle 10 more.A few more years wait for Volume 2 should be just right ...
Arnold Grove said:
Hey, we'll give you Volume 2 of Early Takes with 10 songs on it to be released in the year 2018, or you get nothing. Your decision... Arnold Grove said:
It's only supposed to be two songs on a marbled vinyl single, right? Hmmm, they probably are being cautious in picking the two songs because they don't want to duplicate anything appearing on Early Takes Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ...

Along with the publication of Lewisohn's Tune In Volume 2 (4 years ahead of schedule), the free online screening of Ron Howard's Beatles Live documentary for the 4th of July holiday, and the release of George Harrison's Early Takes Volumes 2-10.... Arnold Grove said:
Are they serious? So much then for Early Takes Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ....Arnold Grove said:
Loads of it---from Abandoned Love to Dehra Dun to It Don't Come Easy (with George on lead vocals) to The Pirate Song. But will we ever get to hear it officially? That's another story. We're still awaiting on Early Takes Volume 2...Arnold Grove said:
That July 2027 is going to be a busy month with:The Announcement of the Comprehensive Plan
The 60th Deluxe Edition of Sgt Pepper, wherein Giles will try again at another remix (and still fail)
The final volume of Mark Lewisohn's Tune In, in which Mark will explain the Beatles breakup in 50,000 words
The Let It Be film on a microchip for insertion into one's brain
George's Early Takes Volume Two (with 10 demos of George yodeling and playing the ukelele)
The Ringo 2027 album with re-do's of "Yesterday", "Strawberry Fields Forever", and "Back Off Boogaloo" (the last one being a re-do of the first two re-do's)

So which item will come out first?:The George turntable
The Vinyl LP Box Set
The Updated (and Expensive) I Me Mine Book from Genesis Publishers
(I know that Early Takes Volume 2 will NOT be coming any time soon, so I'm excluding that item from this informal poll....)

Finally, after 5 years, as the follow-up to Early Takes Volume 1:Edited Takes Volume 2 by George Harrison, including the unique single edits of This Song, It's What You Value, Love Comes to Everyone, and Teardrops

And I'll go ya one better, even though there's even less of a chance of this happening: a "bonus" of Early Takes Volume TWO (!!!)... Arnold Grove said:
And:Later Takes Vol. 3
Finished Takes Vol. 4
Demo Takes Vol. 5
Ukelele Takes Vol. 6
Cover Takes Vol. 7
Out-Takes Vol. 8
etc....

Just don't get too excited yet. I need to double-check the exact volume that they are up to, but I think we still need to get beyond Early Takes Volume 1 before we can expect more... Arnold Grove said:
What? Didn't George's Early Takes Volume One totally clean out the archives? I've heard that there is nothing left after the release of that exhaustive set... Arnold Grove said:
We may as well reach for the sky:February: George Harrison Early Takes: Volumes 2-10
Arnold Grove said:
I'll just settle for Early Takes Volume 1 and a Half ... Arnold Grove said:
Coming out on Early Takes Volume 17 (Dylan Cover Songs). Arnold Grove said:
It'll turn up on Early Takes Volume 157... Arnold Grove said:
It seems that the joke was on us!I personally do not think that it was purposefully intended to be humorous. I think that they has some early idea of releasing more than one of these types of "Early Takes" volumes. But for some reason, they stopped (so far).

Early Takes Volume 1 came out in 2012. That would have been an easy opportunity to begin a continuing set of future volumes, which they could have released at the rate of 1 per year. The compiling of say 10 songs every year would be a simple thing to do, and fans could have had a nice collection of all types of stuff. But as it's been about 9 years since that album came out, it probably would be smart to not expect a Volume 2.Arnold Grove said:
And you may as well tweet Olivia and Dhani too. I think we are a bit overdue for an Early Takes Volume 2, wouldn't you think? Arnold Grove said:
Early Takes Volumes 2 through 10 Wishful thinking when we can't even get just Volume 2 ...
Arnold Grove said:
And I heard they're planning on a 10th anniversary edition of Early Takes for 2022 which will include one LESS song ... Arnold Grove said:
We had George's Early Takes Volume 1 about 6 months ago...Oh, I mean 6 years ago....
Arnold Grove said:
Early Takes Volumes 2 through 10 would be nice. But, unfortunately, I don't expect any of those to be released any time soon.Arnold Grove said:
Next April is no good. That will be when Olivia and Dhani finally release Early Takes Volumes 2 Through 15 ... Arnold Grove said:
One day this song will turn up on Early Takes Volume 2 ....Arnold Grove said:
They are holding it back for Early Takes Volume 15. Oh when will even Volume 2 be released...
Arnold Grove said:
Trying to get my hopes up, when you know that I have been waiting about 8 years for Early Takes Volume 2 ... Arnold Grove said:
My inside sources say that they will instead reissue Early Takes Volume 1 in a deluxe remixed edition---but with 3 fewer tracks.Arnold Grove said:
What? Didn’t Early Takes Volume 1 fill the void enough? Personally, I still haven't gotten through listening to that copious compilation... Arnold Grove said:
Why wait? I've been compiling my own volumes. I'm up to Early Takes Vol. 303 ... Arnold Grove said:
The second edition of the BBB box will be released at the same time as George's Early Takes Volume 2. Arnold Grove said:
Still waiting, are you, for Early Takes Volumes 2 through 10?So far, we only made it to Volume 1, with 10 tracks. But that was released in 2012, and it really takes at least a decade to compile these things properly...
Arnold Grove said:
I bought the George Harrison Early Takes Volume 1 CD in 2012.I and everyone else is waiting still for Volume 2.
So I have learned to not assume anything.
Arnold Grove said:
Well if that TIME BANDITS soundtrack can finally see the light of day after 35+ years, then there might be hope to see an EARLY TAKES VOLUME 2 by the year 2045 ... Arnold Grove said:
Early Takes Vol. 1 is a wonderful collection of demos/early takes. BUT the inclusion of only 10 tracks and the complete absence of a Volume 2 after 7 years are head-scratchers. Why so skimpy and why no continuation of the series?Arnold Grove said:
I too would love to hear further volumes of Early Takes. But at this stage in the game, this would NOT be an exceptional opportunity for any label. That ship has passed.
The first volume of Early Takes was released in 2012. It contained 10 early takes/demos and was barely 30 minutes long. Now, it would have been ideal (starting in 2012) if this became an annual series, and then a measly 10 demos released per year could add up (over time) to something more cohesive. Thus, if they released a new volume in the series annually (say, a new Early Takes volume on George's birthday each year), we'd be up to Early Takes Volume 9 and would have gotten over 80 songs so far. But this was not to be. Instead, nothing forthcoming has been released.
So unless Olivia/Dhani suddenly shift gears and decide to put out a massive multi-CD box set of early takes and demos, I don't think that there is great public interest (outside of the Hari-fans here) for more "Early Takes".
Arnold Grove said:
... and Early Takes Volume 2 (George) :agree:Oh, who am I kidding? That'll never happen.
Arnold Grove said:
Which is why we will probably never see a volume 2 of Early Takes. Too bad.Arnold Grove said:
What is ironic of course is that the combined sales of EVERYTHING on the Dark Horse label (minus George) would likely not even equal the sales of just an Early Takes Volume 2 by George.
