Namely, Imagine (expanded edition)?

Weirdly, he isn't in the minority there. For all the nasty things they say about Yoko over there, not all of which she has deserved, they seldom ever bitch or moan that she pretty much just dumped everything in the closet on the market. Lennon himself had said in one of his last interviews that he hoped "inferior shit" wouldn't be dumped on the market when he was dead, as in the case of Buddy Holly. But the releases coming from the Lennon estate would make Holly's caretakers blush. Nothing seems too trivial or unfinished to release.
Consider: A Heart Play, Milk and Honey, Menlove Avenue, Live in New York, The Lost Lennon Tapes, Anthology Box, Imagine (1987 movie and soundtrack), Wonsaponatime, Acoustic, Lennon Signature Box, and a variety of compilations, movies (documentary and fictionalized), TV specials, art exhibitions, and merchandising that Ono had a hand in.
The actual music he released himself in his own lifetime is dwarfed in comparison. One could easily argue that the glut of unlistenable junk Ono has authorized has actually harmed his legacy to a significant degree. And yet, most SHites will take the same line as tommyboy here. It isn't "exploitation"
So what is exploitation, then? Even Lennon maniacs don't want this junk. tommyboy got rid of his stupid Anthology box, so much he didn't need it. I know I will never come close to ever wading through all that junk. Even if I wanted to, I know I'd get bored crazy after four or five unfinished little pieces of doggerel. But I've never once had the urge to even try.
So it fascinates me that the SHites, who dislike Beatle wives in general and Yoko in particular, somehow consistently give her a free pass on this junk. I guess it is because in the world of Beatards, every single scraping is somehow worth owning. They really would buy an album of Lennon farting, just so they wouldn't have a hole in their collections. (Actually they already did. Isn't that what Two Virgins was?)
I really don't give a fuck about how Lennon is remembered or forgotten or what shit comes out; I am long past the days of caring about any of that. However, I do wonder if Yoko had chosen the silent recluse route, and had never agreed to release anything after his death, what would Lennon's legacy be? He might be looked upon as somehow cooler than he is looked upon now; like a larger version of Syd Barrett or something; mysterious and therefore interesting. Or maybe he'd be looked upon as a guy whose solo career petered out after some less than inspired attempts at relevancy... Either way, it's better than he is presented now; purveyor of an enormous grab bag of home demos and tacky merchandise.
So now the SHites get to re-buy the Imagine album once again. No exploitation there, right? They are going gaga speculating what outtakes will be included. The world, I'm sure, can't wait for yet another version of "How?"
None of my post is meant to detract from Ono's business acumen. If anyone is ripe for exploitation it is the SHites. If owned a rekkid company or an artist catalog, I'd milk them until they go bankrupt too.

I’m looking forward to this. Perhaps I’m in the minority here, but I think Yoko Ono has a done a pretty good job with Lennon’s catalog. She certainly hasn’t exploited it and some interesting releases have been issued over the years. I had the Anthology box at one time, but sold it off.forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/john-lennon-imagine-expanded-reissue-due-in-2018.719367/
